Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

looking for adventure in the everyday

ABOUT ME

I am from North Carolina and currently live in Charlotte with my partner, Paul, chihuahua, Lola, and 4 chickens. Paul and I own a niche map publishing company, EDIA, Inc. It's our greatest adventure yet! EDIA stands for "Every Day Is an Adventure," and I believe that an adventure can be had anywhere, whether across the globe or in your own backyard. I love discovering new places, and I love to help other people do the same!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am still fairly new to the couchsurfing community and have been lucky enough to surf a few times now. I have a handful of friends who have been very active for some time and recommended it highly, and I'm grateful to them for getting me involved in this community!

Música, películas y libros

Books: love travel writing, food writing, magazines, regional literature, and some of the classics (Steinbeck and Hemingway remain favorites)

Music: love tunes from other eras, especially the 20's-40's (Django Reinhardt is a fav), soul, and any kind of roots music.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I always discover something new while traveling alone. Definitely one of my most memorable travel experiences was my first solo backpacking trip. It was a short overnighter, but I camped right on the edge of the Pacific with the sound of waves outside my tent and a beautiful sky up above. I also met a family of tule elk on the trail on the hike in! Come to think of it, some of the most amazing things happen on the trail: coming face-to-face with a black bear in Kings Canyon National Park and having one right outside my tent on the same trip, in Yosemite. And the views I've witnessed have been amazing, from the stars above in Glacier National Park to hiking down the Grand Canyon and back up in snow and ice. But I fully believe that every day is an adventure, and I see and do amazing things almost every single day even in my own hometown. I love themed party-planning (New Year's Party of the Century of 2012/13!), organizing group outings with friends (Charlotte BBQ and Brewery Tour of 2013!), and discovering new things outside my front door whenever I have a spare minute.
