About Me

CURRENT MISSION

In search of good times.

ABOUT ME

I'm a very adventurous person, who can get along well with almost anyone. I'm easy to talk to and always up for meeting new people, that's why traveling is so appealing to me! I love doing anything outdoors, from camping, hiking, riding my bicycle, to snowboarding, walking my dog, swimming, and I could go on and on.

I grew up in Portland, Oregon and I will always have a special place in my heart for that city. I don't miss the rain though, because I love the sunshine! I currently live in Austin, Texas and it's a city I now call home. I love the hospitality of the people here, the weather and all the music this city has to offer.

Oh and...The one thing that might take a person by surprise when first meeting me, is that I have a lot of tattoos. While my tattoos do not define who I am, they do provide a window into my personality and have a story to tell.

I'm so excited for my upcoming trip to Japan that I can hardly stand it! I'm also anxious to use couchsurfing.org for the first time. I look forward to having someone show me around and tell me the things they love about their country/city!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience yet. Would love to host people in the future. Right now, I need to find people to host me!

Interests

I work very hard, so I reward myself with the time to play just as hard. I have a Master's Degree in Teaching and I've been an elementary school teacher here in Austin for the past 3 years. I love my job and working with kids, because it's both meaningful and fun! I think it's important to be passionate about what you do for a living.

When I'm not working...

- I like to ride my vintage motorcycle that I've had for 4 years now. It's a '75 Honda CB360 and it's my favorite toy!
-I have an awesome one year old puppy named Scout who I completely adore. He's pretty darn cute.
-I also like going to shows to see live music and have a lot of friends in bands that I go watch play.
-I own my home, so I find myself doing repairs here and there on the weekends.
-Have an obsession with shopping at thrift stores. You can find the best treasures there and cheap too!
-For fun and extra $$, I design and sell jewelry (necklaces/earrings) on my Etsy site, as well as at a neighborhood boutique for local artists.
-I like to ride my bicycle to go swimming at a river that's close to my house.
- I also love going out for drinks with my friends to unwind.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music and go see live music at least once every 2 weeks.

Classic rock, punk, metal, indie, some hip hop are all good. A few favorite bands are: Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Smiths, Electric Wizard, Iron and Wine, Waylon Jennings, Atmosphere, The Black Keys, Thin Lizzy, Roky Ericson. I could go on and on. Music is something I know a lot about and it's a big influence on the people I hang out with.

Favorite Movies: Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Goonies, Easy Rider, Life Aquatic (anything by Wes Anderson!), Kingpin, Little Miss Sunshine, Eagle vs Shark, Wet Hot American Summer, to name a few...

Books: Anything by Howard Zinn, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut. The Outsiders, 1984, and Catcher in the Rye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Definitely watching the running of the bulls in Pamplona Spain. I didn't participate, but watching was scary enough!

- I've been skydiving and the rush of jumping out of an airplane is unexplainable. I would do it again and again in a heartbeat.

- Climbing and swimming in a cave with bats and only a candle to light the way. It was a guided tour I went on with a friend in Guatemala. At first, I thought it sounded so easy, but it turned out to be a pretty intense and challenging situation!
