About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much as is humanly possible

ABOUT ME

I'm an optimistic nihilist: I believe that there isn't any real, intrinsic point to our lives. But that doesn't get me down. In fact, it gives me a reason to do as much as I can, cram as much as I can into my tiny little life, and appreciate how miraculous it is that we even exist! But I'd also love to hear what you think, as I'm so fascinated by how everyone chooses to approach the big questions in life.

I've lived in several countries, I love reading, am quite nocturnal and love lengthy discussions (it's usually more fun when we don't have the same view!). I am friendly, open-minded and talkative. I spent a year studying in France as part of my uni degree and am now enjoying life in Amsterdam. I am interested in sustainability and also fascinated by the working of culture and mass thought processes and hope that one day I'll be able to have a positive impact on the world. If you want to go to Australia, I am happy to give you tips and tricks to avoid the boring tourist places and discover the best bits of the country!

PHILOSOPHY

Leave the world a better place for having you in it. Take joy in the arts and the artifice, for there - and not in grim reality - lies the truth and meaning of life.

Authors: Chuck Palahniuk, Roald Dahl, Aldous Huxley, Noam Chomsky, ,Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Safran Foer,
Movies: ones that are one or more of these things: independent, unpredictable, informative, metaphorical or ethereal
Music: Almost anything live. On rotation is a wide variety from Dutch hip hop to American pop to modern classical. You'll have to ask me what I'm listening to when we meet, because it changes every week!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in my van for two months travelling around Australia and didn't spend ANY money on accommodation. I was lucky to be invited to a 'rainbow gathering' in the state forest. That community is fascinating as a sociological experiment, and a beautiful way to live life without complications and by practising unconditional love. They shared every meal, bathed in the river and sang by a fire every night. Everyone was greeted with a hug and "welcome home".

Teach, Learn, Share

I make fantastic pancakes!
