About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out what Justice really means to different people in the world and try to envision or take part in a system that helps ensure that justice. I want to be part of the global system that will safeguard the environment and human rights.

ABOUT ME

I believe that people are good, caring, and deeply connected to one another. I have always believed that if people knew and understood one another, not just could translate words that people speak, but really, truly understood another person, the atrocities that happen today could not possibly take place. I know that there is a way, if enough people come together to work on it, to make a system that protects all people. I don't believe we have achieved that yet, but I think the fact that people are trying is an important step. I believe that every person matters and the more different they are from the loudest, largest group, the more important it is to hear their voice. I believe that there is nothing that cannot be achieved when people are truly committed to achieving that. I hope that I will matter in the long run, that I will be able to aid the progress that humanity can make. My deepest fear is that I will have had all the potential necessary to effect positive change, but that I will not have heeded the call. I try to learn everything that I can learn, both from books and from sources that cannot possibly be written into text, so that I am better able to assist in humanity's progress. My life is fun, exciting, driven, and passionate.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to help create/participate in a system that will protect humanity, respect differences, and save our environment. I want to take in life, learn new things, meet new people, understand different cultures. I want to taste, touch, and feel another person's life so that I can try to understand who they are, where they come from, and what is important to them. I want to experience everything! I want to travel, read, and try new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet all the different people that I can and get to know what is important to you. I want to share and exchange with people from all over the world. I have a couch and plan to surf all summer starting May 23rd.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not yet couchsurfed but had a similar experience in China when a friend took me home for the holidays with her. Getting to participate and see her homelife was incredible. The way her family worked, the way they celebrated, the way her hometown community was all connected was one of the times in my life that I learned the most.

Interests

I love thinking about human rights and the environment. I love playing soccer (futball!) and really anything althletic. I have ridden horses my whole life and love anything related to animals. I really enjoy art and music but have no personal talent myself. But, I am inspired by those who are talented in that way and I truly enjoy it when people can share those interests with me. I love photography and trying to capture beautiful moments in time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading the classics. I love Plato, C.S.Lewis, Dostoevesky, and simpler stories that are just meant to let you live another life while you are reading the book. I feel like there is just so much human experience that gets bound up into books that reading is really a gateway to another person's mind and heart. I am really not talented in music but I enjoy things that I have not heard before. Really I usually find anything new interesting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have gotten to live in China and see and meet many minority populations within the Chinese culture. I have ridden a bicycle across my own country from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific and helped build and educate about affordable housing along the way. I have gotten to see the Great Wall of China, the Mongolian grasslands, the Grand Canyon, and orca whales.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share my passion for justice. I have thought a fair bit about human rights, environmental rights, and the law and would love to share some thoughts with anyone. However, as eager as I am to share, I am equally eager to learn and be challenged in the things I have thought about. I am a strong woman and I believe that I have a great deal to offer in terms of understanding that strength. I am energetic and enthusiastic and I hope that I could challenge someone to view the world in a positive way such that truly anything is possible. In all these things, I know that I still have immeasurable amounts to learn and I am eager to learn more.
