About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To eat the most delicious desserts in every place I visit

ABOUT ME

I have been teaching middle school English and Social Studies for the past five years though I may be ready for a change soon. I love teaching but am also very interested in sustainable agriculture, farming, and local food as well as social issues of gender, race, class and privilege. I live with one roommate in Boston a great apartment that has a small backyard and a balcony. When it's nice enough, I strive to sit on the back porch all day long.

PHILOSOPHY

The personal philosophy I am working on developing is to take risks, make decisions, and accept that no matter what, there will always be problems. This sounds pessimistic but it is really freeing for me- I spend so much time thinking about what the EXACT RIGHT thing to do is, that I don't make any decisions at all and thus miss out on great experiences. I am working on doing my best thinking and then jumping in, knowing that with any risk comes challenges, but that these help us grow and ultimately enhance us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just joining couch surfing at my younger brother's suggestion- he used it to travel around Europe and met some amazing people! I will be in Ireland this summer and some other parts of Europe and would like to get hooked in to couch surfing. I also would love to do some hosting or coffee/ drinks with visitors who come to Boston in the future.

Interests

As mentioned above, I am interested in local, organic/ sustaniable food and agriculture. I am a Foodie- I love to eat good, fresh, local and homecooked food of all kinds! Especially desserts : ) I am also interested in many outdoor activities- hiking, camping, swimming, running, and then indoor things like yoga and meditation. I am not a huge drinker or partier but I love checking out new pubs and trying new beers, wines, or drinks. I am social and love to have conversations with people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a week in Barrow, Alaska, which is the most northern city of the United States. It is above the Arctic Circle and above tree line, also I visited during July where the sun actually shone for 24 hours a day! I went for a jog on the tundra and had to look out for polar bears. It was awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

I AM a teacher, so I know a lot about teaching literature, writing, and history. I also studied in Sevilla, Spain in college and though my Spanish is not strong anymore, I love to talk about that city!

I want to learn more about the economies and social systems of other countries, and what it is like to live and work in different places.
