About Me

Hello :)
Although due to my current arrangements, I am not able to surf or host, I keep my profile up to date because I look forward to when I will be able to be active in the couchsurfing community again.
My experience with CS began in 2013, and it remains one of the things I am most grateful for having experienced. I always felt that something like CS should exist, I just didn’t know exactly what it was called: a way for people to travel affordably and experience culture organically. But all of us who have experienced it know that it is so much more than that.!I tell people about couchsurfing every chance that I get.
A little about myself: I recently finished my Master’s degree and have lived in Tennessee my entire life, but those are just facts about me that don’t really give an idea of who I am.
I have a passion for teaching and greatly enjoy spending time with children. I love animals. I enjoy meeting new people, although I greatly value solitude for reflection. I have a great interest and passion for holistic health and alternative living. I have experienced great healing from sickness in my life with the help of herbs. I enjoy writing/journaling, and I like to go camping and hiking (barefoot when I can! :D). I have close friends from several different religions and parts of the world, and I enjoy learning about all of them.
I consider myself a lifetime learner, and I am interested in learning more about organic gardening/permaculture, zero waste living, and different languages. I simply am actively pursuing becoming a better version of myself.
Although the Nashville community is currently a bit too far for me to be actively involved, feel free to message me if you have any questions about the area, especially about Murfreesboro.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I guess I kind of said this above, but I really enjoy meeting new people, seeing new places, and learning about them. Couchsurfing provides a great way to do this! Although I am not currently travelling or hosting, I like to keep my profile up to date, because I think CS is so valuable.

Interests

I enjoy listening to all kinds of music and going to festivals every now and then. I enjoy hiking and I would eventually like to learn to rock climb. I used to run regularly and still enjoy going for a run every now and then.

Music, Movies, and Books

Eternal Sunshine is probably my favorite movie. Recently I've really enjoyed Westworld and the stories in Orange is the New Black. I enjoy many kinds of Documentaries and feel as though I've learned more through Documentaries and Youtube than I have in my formal education.
Bad habit: starting books and taking forever to finish them. Right now I have some Faulkner and Vonnegut mainly on my list, along with several non-fiction books. My list of books that I want to read is probably longer than my lifespan.
I like most music I hear. The Postal Service always puts me in a good mood. Right now my favorite band is Modest Mouse.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summer 2012. I finally got to start the traveling I hope to continue the rest of my life.
I took a 23-day road trip with a few other people, from TN, through the midwest, Colorado, Arizona, Vegas, Cali, and Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

Meeting someone to practice my Spanish with would be a bonus!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I know a little piano and a little guitar. Although I don't really enjoy playing in front of other people, I can definitely teach you the basics. I enjoy making tea or a meal and sitting with people and talking.
