About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm living in China over the summer to do preliminary research for a Ph.D. dissertation in Anthropology. So far I've been staying in hostels, but I'd be interested in meeting some people in Beijing and Shanghai through Couchsurfing.

ABOUT ME

Anthropologist, BURNER, Snowboarder, Dancer, Hiker, Frolicker, Climber, DayDreamer, Human

I'm not sure why BURNER needs to be in CAPS, but it DOES.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm too anti-dogmatic for any personal philosophy. Maybe I should be a little more dogmatic? I have nothing against personal philosophies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this, so I haven't participated much yet. But I want to!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Aside from couchsurfing that has been arranged in the non-virtual world (which I've done plenty of), my experience with this website has been exclusively vicarious at this point in time. But I've heard many good things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Dogville, Pulgasarri, anything by David Lynch or Pedro Almodovar ...

Music: Sufjan Stevens, Cat Stevens, MGMT, Ronald Jenkees, Pogo, Bonobo, Little People, The Glitch Mob, Beats Antique, STS9, Daniel Johnston ...

Books: lots of Med & Psych Anthro stuff, social critique revealed through powerful first-person narrative (a la W.E.B. DuBois, Frantz Fanon, Charlotte Perkins-Gilman, etc.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Macchu Picchu is the most majestic place I've ever been. The Mass Games in North Korea were also remarkable and North Korea was truly like nowhere else I have been in my life.
