About Me
Hello there! I'm a self-employed oil painter who teaches children from her home studio in Austin, Texas. If you want to check out some of my work you can find me on Instagram under amandaleejonesartstudio . I love animals and have two chickens, two rabbits, and an African Grey parrot named Jack. I don't have children, but get along great with them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My most amazing friend, Arian, recommended this site to me as a great way to be able to travel more on an artist's budget, and also meet locals (which is helpful since I like to travel alone from time to time).
While I appreciate any time you're able to share with me as a host, I in no way expect you to entertain me. I am super independent and low-maintenance. I also run an Airbnb out of my home so I am very accustomed to respectfully sharing space with many types of people from all over the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is way too hard! I love so many genres of music and movies and books!!!
I host a Movie Monday event every week so I've seen so many movies they start to blur together. ;) I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Fountain, and I Heart Huckabees but I also love good action, horror, history and fantasy movies.
Lately I've been listening to Fever Ray when I paint, but I love to dance to swing and country music. When I work out I tend toward heavy metal and rap. But I grew up on classic rock and blues, and there's nothing quite as good as that!
As for books, I am currently listening to the Outlander Series. I tend to like historical fiction or non-fiction dealing with psychology or beliefs (such as The God Delusion, Beyond Religion, The Believing Brain, The Moral Landscape)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, I was going to say scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef (which was by far the most amazing experience!), but surviving cancer was the thing that was the most difficult and life-changing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My painting and crocheting skills! I can teach you how to crochet a tiny baby Yoda...who can resist that??
