About Me

Recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with two Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish, I love travelling and experiencing new things. I'm teaching English outside of Paris, France this next year through the TAPIF program, and I'm thinking my next step after I get back will be studying linguistics in graduate school at Old Dominion University. I hope to one day visit all seven continents (yes, including Antarctica), and have already been to Europe and Africa aside from North America. My favorite place to go has to be Paris however, and I will never pass up an opportunity to visit.

Never passing up a slice of pizza, a hot cup of coffee, or a glass of good wine, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Corey, and cat, Zula, while watching Netflix or cooking up something new (that I probably found on Pinterest).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This year while I'm teaching English I want to take advantage of being "across the pond" and explore Europe, but I'll be on a tight budget. I'm hoping couchsurfing will afford me the opportunity to explore new places, cultures, and history while not spending all my money in one place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While in Cote D'Ivoire for a study abroad grant in college I was able to experience a whole new way of life, and one of my favorite experiences was visiting a cocoa farm. One of the workers gave us a tour, explained to us the process of chocolate production from seed to wrapper, allowed us to taste raw cocoa seeds straight from the pod, and served us fresh oranges that had just moments ago been picked from a nearby tree and peeled with his machete. Afterwards we were invited back to his village where we sat in a circle and drank palm wine with the villagers, who welcomed us with open arms even though we were complete strangers to them. It truly impressed upon me how good and caring people can be, even to complete strangers from an entirely different culture.
