ABOUT ME
Hi, everyone!
I'm grew up near Los Angeles, very close to the San Gabriel Mission and a couple miles south of Caltech.
Right now I'm a college student in Colorado Springs, at Colorado College.
PHILOSOPHY
I love meeting people: personal connections are a good deal of the reason why I like to travel.
I'm trying to escape the materialism and shallowness of my native culture (American, particularly Hollywood). Not that there isn't wonderful stuff in American culture, but there's a lot of crappy values (violence, disrespect, irresponsibility, wealth).
I'm trying to build my own inner peace and peace with the world. I want to change the worldview I grew up with, i.e. that some people are "worth" more than others, that it's all a competition.
Hopefully couchsurfing will help convince me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have only couchsurfed once, but it was a great experience and I intend to do it more. I just moved out of the college dorms and I'm going to ask my roommates if they're interested in hosting with me :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only done it once, but it worked out very well. I stayed at someone's home with three other girls.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like folk music and world fusion. I also listen to some American pop, to relax and at dances. Dance music is also a favorite, because I like being inspired to dance!
Some favorite books: Italo Calvino, If on a winter's night a traveler; Thomas Pynchon, The Crying of Lot 49; Guillaume Apollinaire, L'Alcool.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my personal biggest accomplishments, recently, was finally buying my plane ticket to the Middle East!! It was really hard and I was scared but now I'm so excited. I'm traveling there for two months, starting in late October. I don't know a lot of Arabic, and I'm a female alone, so maybe it's amazing or maybe it's stupid. What do you think?
