About Me

Currently travelling through Eastern Turkiye 19th Dec to 15th Jan 2023.

Nomad by heart, tax accountant by day; just trying to see as much of this beautiful planet as possible.-And hopefully meet some awesome people along the way. I’m half Punjabi and half Yemeni, born in East Africa but lived in Australia for most of my life. Simultaneously rooted in culture but also super open and globally focused. Massive foodie : )) if I’m not eating, I’m thinking about my next meal or cooking something. History obsessed, fascinated by notions of identity and its construction. So keen on sharing good conversation, knowledge, food and awesome experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To share experiences and connections with people all over the world. To engage, immerse and understand cultures and ways living that are different from my own. To honour the idea of giving hospitality and shelter to the traveler. And ultimately to remind myself, through the forging of bonds, that we’re all actually the same.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music; anything from some old school Billie holiday, alternative electronica, indie rock , Harlem are my favorite band closely followed by deer hunter, to 60's Hindi filmi tunes and dubstep )

Film ; too many to list but give me anything by Akira Kurosawa, Pasolini or Fatih Akin and I'm happy

Books; again too many to list but anything by Rushdie, Huxley or W Dalrymple is always good. Season of the Migration to the North stands out as a recent favorite

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked deep into the brimstone pits of the sulphur mines atop Mount Bromo in East Java

Witnessing the migration of wilderbeasts in Masai Mara, and prides of lions stalking them

Seeing the sunrise over Angkor Wat in Cambodia

Seeing the sunset over Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives

Pretending to be a celebrity and staying in Ho Chi Minh’s swankiest hotel for free for 3 nights with full VIP treatment

Planning to go to the Himalayas for a week, and ending up staying in the villages of the Parvati Valley 3 months. Waking up to the full glory of the mountains while trekking.

Partying till dawn with the locals in secret clubs in Tibet during a Chinese imposed curfew

Seeing the full moon over the mountains of the Sinai dessert

Turning 21 in an ancient underground chhang bar and partying with the bro’s in Kathmandu

Making deep lifelong connections with so many incredible souls who I’ve had the privilege to share the road with while travelling

Tooooo many more
