About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finish translating a book and go traveling, finally:)

ABOUT ME

Traveling for me is not about ticking off some sights from the list of some hundred "must-see places of interest", it's more about drinking in the place where I happen to be, the atmosphere, the people, the ideas - in short, everything, that makes this country/city/whatever so special and unique, on one side, and that unites it with my own place and all other place I happen to have visited and drunk in, on the other. It's not for appearance sake, it's for experience sake:)And I love meeting new people, every new person met is an experience in itself

PHILOSOPHY

I do happen to believe that everything is for the best. However, it is we who make everything to turn out the best way. Virtually nothing comes out the way we want it to be without personal efforts.
Perhaps, buddhism rings most bells with me; like Ole Nidal said, "what has not yet happened, can be changed" (these are not his exact words, just rendering from Russian)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I'm only surfing occasionally, but intend to start hosting sometime

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm quite new here

UPD - some 6 months later:)
Well, can't claim to be "new" here as for now, yet can't call myself to be really experienced either.
Have found a host here for my trip to Belgium this spring, and this was encouraging experience

Music, Movies, and Books

Music for now: folk rock, oldies (like CCR, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis), art rock (Jethro Tull forever, occasional Tindersticks), some Russian bard song, classical musique (especially baroque)Movies: all-time favorites are Kieslowski, Johnny To, Wong Kar-Wai before 2046 and some others I can't remember just right now. Books: now it's mostly Terry Pratchett and books on popular science.Overall, this section is most prone to changes, so what's filled in here is just a kind of a time slice, valid for the time of writing only.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
