About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cherry harvest in Kelowna. Just hired as an assistant supervisor / spanish translator at a large farm, starting on July 20th.

ABOUT ME

I've been on the road, in the jungle, and up the beach since many years... from the Amazon Jungle, to the Himalayas, to the depths of the Caribbean with hammerhead sharks.

I love learning old and new things. My passion is tai chi, I was learning internal martial arts from the Taoist tradition, and especially from Wudang, and for a year and a half I was living in Amsterdam, training at the Yin Yang Center, and enrolled into a tai chi instructor program... More recently, I was back in the Peruvian Amazon, for a pretty good stretch of time... And for 8 months I was living in the deep jungle, working as a translator, project assistant, and facilitator, at a Shamanic Plant Medicine retreat center, Sama Nete, The World of the Plant Medicine Diets.

Those were pretty special times, with indigenous shamans, learning about Ayahuasca and other Amazon medicinal plants.

I love jamming, playing the guitar, singing, writing, listening to music, photography, and playing tai chi.

PHILOSOPHY

more chi!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In June, 2013, I met with a CS'er from Sicily, who was coming to Amsterdam, and offered to meet, hang out and double her on the back of my bicycle, looking for a room to rent. This is my one and only official CS story, hope to have more.

I'm relatively new to the online community, but several years ago I did experience amazing couchsurfing-like hospitality way up in the Peruvian Andes mountains.

After high altitude trekking (with my Q'echua guide) from the middle of nowhere, 35 kilometers deeper into nowhere, we finally came to the Q'eros region, 4000 meters high, and a beautiful family took me in for 2 months.

They gave me my own stone hut for sleeping, and really made me feel like one of the family, cooking and eating together...babysitting the grand kids.

Beautiful people, paradise mountain... no couch, but pretty massive alapaca and sheep skins on the ground was real cozy.

Check out my photos of this paradise place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Night diving in the Caribbean!

Our group found a sandy patch to rest around 40 feet deep... and then turned off our flashlights. Pitch black.

After some time, our eyes adjusted to the dark, and slowly but surely, dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of tiny glowing spheres of light appeared all around us. Fantastic. Microscopic organisms, mating after the full moon.

We continued, towards the shelf, and I came across a 6 foot, silver reef shark, floating in the black ocean.

One of my favorite dives ever.
