About Me

CURRENT MISSION

traveling is the most fun thing i can imagine

ABOUT ME

I love learning about other cultures, and traveling is such a fun way to do that. I've gotten to travel quite a bit in Europe (I didn't list any repeat visits on my profile), but in the future I'd like to travel to more exotic places and new continents. Hopefully I'll be able to coordinate a trip to China next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been traveling a little less now that I'm out of college, but I'm lucky in that my work hosts several French and Spanish exchange students every year, so they give me lots of excuses to get out and explore some cities closer to home.

I'm new to couch surfing, but my friend Adam hosted a couch surfer last week, and it seems like a really inspired idea. I'm a true local, so I'd be happy to show someone around town if they happen to be in the Yale area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I'm new to the website, I definitely have spent a few vacations on someone's couch. One of the best experiences was my first trip to Italy when we stayed in a one road town in Calabria. We all stayed in my friend's summer house...in december. There was no heat (no refrigeration was required for our food), and a very limited water supply (think army showers), but it's still probably the best trip I ever had.

Even though very few people spoke English in the town (San Demetrio Corone), and I spoke no Italian beyond "Hello, I don't speak Italian", we felt incredibly welcome. Random people would invite us into their homes and feed us and we would make our best efforts to communicate. Everyone in the town went out every night to the same two restaurants which became the same two bars that everyone went to on the weekends. So much fun!

Interests

I'm terrible at snowboarding, but I think it's a lot of fun. I love learning new things, like I think it would be so cool to learn how to surf one summer.
