Our story so far...

We both quit our jobs in April 2023 and started travelling.

I have been a member of couch surfing for 8 years, but until 2023 never actually had the opportunity to surf or host.

The aim is to travel and take this time to see as much as possible so we are trying see and do more, meet lovely people and have some great experiences as we have done so far hence wanting to do lots of couch surfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Over the end of 2022/ start of 2023 we continually discussed the idea of a year out traveling and in April 2023 we both quit our jobs and decided to just do it.

Since then we have spent our time travelling using Couchsurfing and Workaway. Working on farms, homestead's, jungle, islands, pet sitting, house sitting, camping and hopping across countries on friends (new and old) sofas, floors and spare rooms.

We started in the UK but in September 2023 we flew to Argentina and volunteered and Couchsurfed around South America till Feb 2024. Then headed to central America for a few months doing the same (We actually spent the entire two months in Costa Rica mostly volunteering. Had a brief stop in San Francisco where we road tripped around California.

At the end of April/ start of May we are meeting friends in Canada for two weeks for another road trip. Then continuing Canada for approx six months of volunteering, couchsurfing, exploration and experiences.

After that with the new age rise in New Zealand's working visa. That is looking very appealing, (If we still have funds to get there) 🤞. 📝(Sep/Oct 2024-2025)

That's the general plan incase updating this alludes us.

And amongst that have plenty of good food, exploration, and absorb experiences with great company, meet lots of people and help out where we can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pre April 2023 we watched a fair amount of Bear Grylls (Summer also read his book) the island when we have been with electric. Our taste in movies has also follow suit and been along the theme of Wild, Tracks, Into the wild, A walk in the woods etc.

I (Jamie) also like the artistic silent motion pictures of Baraka (1992) and Samsara (2011).

Though historically (before travelling)I was more than likely to watch something on YouTube from a range of topics as really like the way that the majority of the time you see what the creator had intended without any third party interference in the edit. Which just makes everything more authentic even though not necessarily factually correct.

I had even intend on starting my own channel to coincide with my original journey back in 2016. Though that was now a while ago although something I may wish to pursue again in the future.
