Overview
About Me
I recently completed my masters program in applied anthropology at UMD in May. I am currently a Peace Corps volunteer in Mungwi District, Northern Province, Zambia, right outside of Kasama. Come visit if you want to see fish ponds and cute dogs.
Outside of academia (is there really an outside?), I am a second-degree brown belt in judo (Nikyu), play tennis, enjoy playing and watching soccer (Real Madrid and Barcelona supporter), try new foods, and walk a lot. I can spend hours in an art or history museum. When I visit new places, I love just walking around and getting a feel for the city. I drink too much coffee and am trying to switch to tea, but honestly, it's been unsuccessful. I eat too many desserts and have a real weakness for chocolate ice cream. I want to write a book someday, so I write down a lot of what I do and see. I also read a lot too; I can finish a 200+ page book in less than a day.
So, I'm a nerd that loves to throw people (judo is the best thing I've ever done, I swear!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Books: Harry Potter, On the Road, Allen Ginsburg poetry, anything by Clifford Geertz, Americanah, White Teeth, and I'm trying to get through IQ84; If you've read it, don't spoil it since I'm only on page 100.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Not making a drunk fool out of myself; I can handle alcohol rather well for my size, and I generally always have my bearings together.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Does anyone want to learn about postmodern cultural theory?? I can also teach some judo techniques, bake my mom's famous out-of-the-box chocolate chip cookies, and how to memorize historical factoids that make you sound super cool.
Learn: Everything. I'm always up to learn something new. Currently, I'm learning about astronomy and star-gazing so if you have any fun facts about that, let me know!
Share: Food. Stories. My diary from when I was 12 (though, do you really want me to share that?)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm incredibly clean, incredibly short (so I don't take up a lot of space) and I don't need much to be happy. Good friend, funny personality, up for learning about new cities, and if you ever decide to come to Kasama, Zambia, I can show you around my 1km long village!
