About Me
— ESPAÑOL —
¡Hola, me llamo Amber!
¡También me encantan los gatos!
Me encantaría conocerte. :)
— ENGLISH —
Hi, my name is Amber! I’m currently traveling in Mexico. I began my trip in Ohio in the United States. I want to travel with only buses and cars on this trip - no planes. :)
I’m an Ohio native but I’ve lived and worked in Canada and Alaska since graduating from college. I’ve worked a variety of jobs in my life such as figure skating instructor, deckhand on a boat in the Toronto Harbour, reception at an independent hostel in Denali National Park, coordinator at a hosting center for young adults arriving to Canada on working holiday visas, local ice cream shop scooper, and many catering gigs to fill in the gaps.
I am trying to learn as much Spanish as possible, but I need a lot of practice. I’m OK at reading, writing, and with simple, slow talking but often it is still difficult for me to understand native speakers. I really, really, really want to learn Spanish so I am always trying to practice. At the moment I am traveling with my girlfriend Lucy (from New Zealand) and she speaks Spanish very well.
Also I love cats!
I would love to get to know you. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couch surfing is such a good way to connect with locals and have a more in-depth experience of wherever you are traveling to. Once I’m more permanent I really want to be able to host couch surfers as well!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Experienced the most incredible sunset/sunrise ever between midnight and 4 am during the summer solstice in Alaska (find pictures in my profile).
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share lots of tips about traveling in Canada. In a past life I was a competitive synchronized ice skater so in winter climates I can teach you how to ice skate.
