About Me
Hi there!
I'm Amber (: I'm new to Couchsurfing! I'm from the South (the south of the United States, that is). I grew up in Texas, but have lived for almost a decade in North Carolina. I'm currently living in Valladolid, Spain teaching English through a government program called Auxiliares de Conversacion. It's my first time in Europe, and I'm so excited to be here and start traveling to other countries. My program is a year long so I'm hoping to see and experience as much as possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To experience other countries and cultures, and hopefully make some friends along the way.
Interests
I love to go to concerts--I'll listen to just about any kind of live music! I also love outdoor activities like biking, hiking and running. Another of my passions is cooking (and eating!) and one of my favorite parts about traveling is trying the local food. In Spain so far that has involved a great amount of wine, cheese, and jamon.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favorite bands are the Shins, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Neon Indian, and Blood Orange. I also love jazz, like Coltrane and Chet Baker. But I'm a huge fan of listening to the music of wherever I am, so I've been jamming to a lot of Spanish music lately!
Some of my favorite movies are Children of Men, 28 Days Later, Midnight in Paris, Waltz with Bashir, and Before Sunrise.
One of my favorite authors is from North Carolina--David Sedaris. He writes hilarious shorts stories. Also living in Spain I recently read Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and loved it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've lived in both Valladolid's in the world--one in Mexico, the other in Spain.
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope to learn as much about the local culture (food, music, customs) of where ever I am. For me that's one of the best/most important parts of traveling!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help you practice your English if you're trying to learn, and of course I can share American food and culture!
