Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Amber: reader, writer, and adventurer. Originally, I hail from the state of Montana in the U.S. and as such I love anything to do with the outdoors. I've spent the last six months living abroad and studying at Oxford University in the UK, taking a short month and a half break between terms to backpack through Europe. After two more months of travel this summer, I'll return to the states to finish my last year of school, and after that.... who knows! My immediate plans after graduation are to set out and attempt a full Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail but I'm open for whatever happens across my path. I live life for the amazement, the adrenaline, and, most of all, the adventure. Always the adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want the opportunity to meet new people while traveling and really integrate myself into the culture by staying with those who live there. Meeting people is my favorite part of travel and I find they can entirely define an experience. I've met some amazing people along my way and couch surfing is the perfect way to make even more global connections. Then, when I'm back home, I want to be able to return the favor.
Interests
I love anything to do with nature and the outdoors: camping, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, you name it. And if I haven't done something, chances are it won't take much convincing to get me to try. When I'm not doing something crazy and adventurous, I'm reading, writing, or playing guitar and singing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite Music: I listen to a little of everything but mostly folk and folk rock of the last half century (you just can't get any better than Simon & Garfunkel or CCR)
Favorite Movies: Pan's Labyrinth, Into the Wild, Walk the Line
Favorite Books: I love reading and I almost always have my nose stuck in a book. Currently I'm on a nonfiction kick but some favorites of mine are "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer, "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas, and "Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven" by Susan Jane Gillman.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walked along live railroad tracks through the mountains of southern Spain in order to hike on the not-yet-open Caminito del Rey.
Teach, Learn, Share
As an aspiring travel writer, I'm always looking to share my stories and teach people about my experiences, as well as learn from others. My favorite part of travel is just talking to people you meet. That's where real cultural experiences come from. If you're interested in hearing some of my stories, you can check out my travel blog at https://mcdanielmisadventures.wordpress.com/.
