About Me

I graduated 3 years ago with a degree in clarinet performance. I am currently working as a manager for chick fil a and travel to help train at openings around the country. I am interested in taking up substitute teaching and if I like that, then possibly getting a credential and working towards teaching as a career. I have a cat named Buster and a wonderful boyfriend that I live with. He doesn't mind that I mentioned the cat first. Then again, he doesn't really have a choice. My boyfriend and I love to travel. We have been to Cancun, Napa, Las Vegas, San Fransisco, and have plans to go to many other places. When we first started dating, I left for a month long backpacking trip throughout Europe and fell in love with travelling. I luckily get to do it with my job, but I would love to do more out of the country.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My sister and I went backpacking throughout Europe a few years ago and were on a budget. We used a mixture of couchsurfing and hostels to stay in the various cities such as Copenhagen, Prague, and Dublin. We were gone for a month and it helped us so much! I would use this again the next time I travel and would try to help any other travelers if able.

Interests

I enjoy playing the clarinet.

Netflix.

Teaching clarinet and other things.

Going to the movies, occasionally by myself. It is quite therapeutic.

I am also pretty active in social justice, particularly for the LGBTQIA community. I went to a Christian university, so I am very aware of the oppressive nature of fundamentalism and the Religious Right, especially against this community. I think all identities should be cherished, even religious identities. I just do not support those who use their religion to oppress others.

I play the handbells. Pretty random, but I played for 3 years, it gave me scholarship money and I actually got pretty good at it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Led Zeppelin, Classic rock, My Chemical Romance, Rage Against The Machine, All 90's things, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Any French Romantic/Impressionistic music, Poulenc, Debussy, My homeboy Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Not country unless it is my girls Shania Twain, Faith Hill, or Martina McBride, Sometimes T Swift, Destiny's Child, Beyonce before her last album, Pink....I appreciate a variety of musical genres.

As for movies - 300 is my favorite. As a child it was a mixture between Sleeping Beauty, The Black Caulderon, The Princess and the Goblin, and Titanic. I wanted to be Rose.

As for books - The Hunger Games, Sense and Sensibility, Pretty much all of Jane Austen, Emily Dickinson never wrote books, but her poetry speaks to my soul and I am wildly fascinated by her, My favorite book is "Tuesdays with Morrie'" written by Mitch Albom, A Series of Unfortunate Events - I was obsessed with these books before high school and own all 13 of them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Adopted my cat Buster when he was 8 yrs old. Best thing that ever happened to me. Also, my boyfriend. He might mind that I mentioned the cat first.
**Upon reading the last few sentences, I realize the implication might have been that mentioning my boyfriend would refer to an "amazing thing I have done." And while that may be true, I was referring to him being one of the "best things that ever happened to me." I hope this clears things up!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach- Clarinet. Flute. My boyfriend can teach the trombone.
Learn- I would love to learn any languages and about different cultures. The most special thing about travelling is the people you meet and learning about the countries they are from.
Share- I would love to share ideals and opinions. Discuss the world and our own views of it. I know the view most of the world has of the USA, and I probably share the same opinion. I would love to restore people's Faith in humanity, as well as have my own restored, considering the joke of a president we have. I can also share tangible things, like food, wine, movies, a lovely couch, some fun board games, and a cat named Buster who loves to cuddle!
