Overview
About Me
I'm a lifelong traveler, a mother to the most delightful ray of sunshine, happy and dedicated partner, and loyal daughter/granddaughter.
I'm currently the South America manager for a travel company. I also guide architectural tours for them in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My real passion however is gardening and making beautiful things with wood or bamboo.
My life story in a few sentences: Although I was born in Spain, I grew up in the USA but left every chance I was given. I did a life-changing backpacking trip through South America in my 20's, fell in love with its people, and one man in particular. After my life changed again due to crushing personal loss, I decided to return to South America, this time traveling by land from my home in Berkeley (San Francisco), California, to Bahia, Brazil. 13 months later I arrived (on my birthday) and I've lived here ever since. Life has never been more beautiful since becoming a mother. My daughter is still under 2 years old, but has already been to 7 countries and is tri-lingual! It's not hard to guess that my greatest accomplishment is motherhood. =)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even though it says I've been a member since 2008, I've actually never hosted or Couchsurfed... until now!
This will be my first trip without my daughter or partner and I can't wait for the feeling of freedom that solo travel offers, and I've heard such amazing things about Couchsurfing's power to connect friend who have not met yet.
Interests
I've been interested in just about everything at one point or another... I am very curious!
While traveling, I'm endlessly interested in new cultures, their food, dance, architecture, history, language, etc. Traveling to Spain will be a life goal completed for me, as I have never been back since being born in Rota, España. My preferred way of travel is by bike and my preferred sleeping arrangement is in a hammock!
At home, I'm very interested in motherhood, and how to be a positive influence on my daughter. This includes home cooked meals, going on adventures, teaching her to be responsible while not over protecting her.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
From September 2013- September 2014, I traveled by truck, boat and bicycle from California to Brazil, alongside a seventy-year-old biking capoeira master. My life partner was a fellow bicyclist on the journey and we became best friends and then parents together because of this amazing experience.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Brazil, Panama, Peru, Spain, United States
