About Me
I took my first trip abroad at the beginning of 2013 and have been hooked on traveling since! After my 6 weeks of backpacking around Morocco and some of Europe, I decidied that my next chapter in life would be dedicated to traveling the world. I went back to San Francisco, to my job, my apartment, but slowly started letting go of the idea I need maintain material things and social status in order to feel like a respectable, contributing member of society. In two years I have visted 5 continents. All of my trips and travels were taken alone until I met my partner in Thailand almost one year ago. After this trip, I went back to the states again to tie up my loose ends. I put in notice to leave my job, my apartment, and got rid of 80% of my belongings. I saved up some money, packed up my backpack, and jumped on a flight on to Vietnam on New Years Eve to meet my love and start our worldwide adventure.
We arrived in Melbourne, Australia about 8 weeks ago (after backpacking Southeast Asia for four months) and are on our working holiday visas. We saved money to buy a car and in about 4 weeks we will begin our journey up the east coast of Australia to explore this beautiful country and get out of this cold, cold weather!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Out of all of this traveling, I have never used couchsurfing but am very interested now. I have mostly traveled countries that are very inexpensive compared to the money I was able to save from my country. I was able to stay at guesthouses and hostels paying nightly for 6 months or more without a struggle, and it was the best way to meet people.
In Australia (and any western countries for that matter) it seems that couchsurfing would be the best way to really get the full-on, local experience in an area, while also saving money. We are in no way 'moochers', but this is a very popular thing that people are using so we figured we'd give it a shot.
We hope to contribute to our hosts in other ways, we hope to meet amazing people and make friends, and we hope this experience enables us to offer the same to travelers when we find a beautiful place to call home for ourselves.
Interests
Aside from traveling, my BIGGEST interest and passion in live music! I love festivals as well. I have been to Burning Man 3 times (this is my first year missing it :( ) NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA is my favorite city in the world and anything that has anything to do with anything that is influenced from that place make me melt! NOLA jazzfest is the most fun festival I have ever been to in my life. I have recently just started practicing Bikram Yoga and it has changed my life! I feel better, look better, have more energy and an overall more positive outlook on everything in life. Im trying to get more into cooking foods from all around the world. I love meeting new people and experiencing new things! I love life.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is difficult. There is SO much. Very eclectic taste, but Soul, funk, jazz, and blues gets me going with the live stuff. I love classic rock, hip-hop, and some old school metal. I like bigger mainstream artists that you might know from the far past, but am very open to new music as well. Most of the new music I follow isn't recognized around the world but is very prevalent in a particular scene in the the States.
Movies- So many. I'll give you 5. Pulp Fiction, The Blues Brothers, The Big Lebowski, Darjeeling Limited, Django Unchained.
Books- 5 again. The Naked Lunch, The Alchemist, Tuesdays with Maurrie, Tropic of Cancer, 1984.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
If I can only name one thing, I would have to share my experience of Camel Trekking through the Sahara desert, and sleeping on top of the sand and under the stars with the Berbers.
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope the through learning and sharing, I teach as well.
