Resumen
Sobre mí
I'm originally from a farm in rural Nebraska and somehow I caught the travel bug. When I started learning French in high school I was hooked and have sort of made my life out of it.
My husband and I are both French teachers but have also spent several years living in France and teaching English. We recently moved to Washington State University to teach French here.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I think that what traveling is all about is meeting people. There is no reason to get some place and spend your time alone in a hotel room when you can have new experiences and learn about other people whose lives can be so different from (or surprisingly similar to) your own.
This is an old sentiment for me. I remember when I was in grade school I wrote this poem about how I wanted to travel, but not to the moon, because there were no people there, so what was the point?
As for Couchsurfing, I used to love when my old roommate would host people and while living with her we had the great opportunity to host and stay with people in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.
Over the summer I went with some friends to a Couchsurfers' BBQ and had a great time because everybody who is on here is so fun and open-minded.
Now that I'm back stateside and have a family, I hope to be able to meet some great people as we travel around a bit as well. Couchsurfing makes all traveling into a much more fun and interesting experience. :-)

Música, películas y libros
I really love to laugh, but I like clever jokes more than slap-stick. When I was a kid I used to stay up all night at my grandparents' watching Get Smart, I love Lucy, and Dick Van Dike on Nick at Nite, and my Grandma said she always heard me laughing and laughing way later than I should have been awake.
I really like stand up comedians, comedies such as Scrubs, The Office, and How I met your mother, and Big Bang Theory, and dramas like Mad Men and Downton Abbey. If you think my choices are rather old... yeah... I had a kid and got stopped somewhere in the middle of most of these series too, so no spoilers please. Someday I'm planning to get back to them. lol
As for books, I've always loved to read, but after reading academic journals all day every day for about a decade, I lost touch with the desire to open a book for fun, but the spring that I finished qualifying exams, I started reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, and finished it in that same summer. All 14000 pages of it. And it was the best thing ever.
Today I read about 50 books a day, but they are mostly of the board book variety.

A good conversation is always my favorite. I love to cook and we could have a fun dinner together (à la bonne franquette).
