About Me

Hi ! I’m Ambre, I’m 22 and I’m a French girl from a Caribbean island. I’m here in the US for 1 year after taking a gap year from my studies in political science. So I’m currently working as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in French at a college in Ohio !

Now what else more original to say ? My roommates will say that I like having fun, by going out and dance like crazy or staying home just talk for hours about anything and everything, drinking tea. I like laughing, doing sarcasm, have passionated debates. I want to discover the world and its cultures. As I like to step out of my confort zone, I also like the idea of a routine : yes, I’m sometimes full of paradox.

(Covid update : fully vaccinated)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think doing Couchsurfing is amazing because it creates unexpected connections between opened people that want to learn from others : their life, the place they live, their culture. I would like to share authentic pieces of life. And of course I would like to laugh a lot around good food !

Music, Movies, and Books

In my playlist, I’m currently listening to “This Charming Man” (The Smiths) about a thousand times a day. But really, if a song makes me wanna dance, it’s already won.

Bridget Jones’ Diary, Forrest Gump, Call Me by your Name.

Jane Austen is one of my favorite author, and Fred Vargas French detective novels are so strange and good at the same time (I love detective novels).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have attended an ayahuasca chaman ceremony in the middle of the Amazonian forest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just learn that in Navajo’s culture there are more than two genders. And that’s very interesting.

Not really “teaching”, but I can share with you some French words, slang and expressions and maybe some creole dialect from my island !

I really would like to get to know more the region I am traveling into, and the people that live there. And I would love to share stories, thoughts, experiences…

I can make you spicy vegetarian curries and true Belgian waffles (with a looooot of butter), listen to French songs and try some yoga postures together !

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughs and for sure some cooking recipes or new music ! To exchange about a lot of different things, always with open-heart. And to share some pieces of our cultures. And would be “cherry on the cake” if we can hang out together !
