Hello!

My name is Ambrose. I have been travelling a bunch through Europe, USA, South-East Asia, Australia & Japan. I really enjoy learning about different cultures, diving into new foods, experiencing all the world has to offer and meeting new people :)

At home I’m a musician, playing saxophone. I'm a pretty social person but if you’re busy I’m super happy to go find my own adventures. Some of my hobbies include ceramics, rollerblading, reading, hiking/camping, cooking, festivals and local movements.

I’m well housetrained, neat and tidy, believe in taking care of the space, and bring a positive energy with me. I really enjoy cooking and am happy to help prepare or cook some meals for you :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled a bunch, stayed at people's places whom I've met on the road, done workaways, hichhiked - but haven't really entered the couch-surfing community and am very keen to see what it's like.

Interests

I'm currently a saxophonist gigging around Queensland in Australia. I play jazz, house music, nu-jazz, funk, groove. Some brass band/New Orleans stuff and the occasional folk music jam. I love music and how it connects people 🫀

I've been spending a lot of time learning ceramics the past year which has been very meditative, and I've loved the haptic feedback of shaping clay to final results. So that's fun. I'm also into rollerblading, woodwork/DIY/crafting things, go to and play at local festivals and dip in/out of being amongst the local art scene.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Lately I've been listening to a bunch of nu-jazz, ambient, and then some trashy house music as a guilty pleasure.

Eg. Ezra Collective, corto.alto, Reservoir, Clap! Clap!, BADBADNOTGOOD, Linkwood, Photay, Haitus Kaiyote, Kenta Hiyashi, Nala Sinephro, and then often classics like Coltrane/Chet Baker/Sonny Rollins/Mingus etc. etc.

Movies: Anything by A24, I like more art house stuff I guess but will binge a good Netflix. Fleabag, The Bear.

Books: recently read some Murakami short stories, Angela Carter’s adaptation of Grimm tales, Terry Pratchett / Neil Gaiman and Sally Rooney’s intermezzo
