About Me
Hey! I'm from the US, but I'd like to consider myself more of a global citizen at this point. I grew up in Metro Detroit, but lived briefly in Ohio and Pennsylvania before moving to Asia in 2012. I've lived in S. Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia and now I'm residing in Australia! I've been making my way around this side of the globe for nearly 7 years. I've mostly been teaching English, so I've been moving around for work, but I've also done some backpacking between contracts and am currently looking to change industries without having to go home and hopefully going to keep this lifestyle up on a new continent soon. That's the general gist of my story, but I'd be happy to tell you more later if you're interested!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like getting to know new people.
Interests
After listing my interests, I've realized that most of what I like to do involves talking to people, discussing ideas or sharing stories about their lives and their perspectives on the world. I like learning how people make sense of the craziness (both good and bad) in life and how that helps them move forward into their next chapter!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open-minded when it comes to music. I am a sucker for a good pop song because it's good for dancing! I like some indie bands, 90s grunge, a bit of garage and house. To be honest, I don't track a lot of new music. I should be taking recommendations because I am probably a bit out of touch.
I like a variety of movies. Love conspiracy theory, political thrillers and dystopian future genres. Basically, any movie (or series) that makes you think.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rode a scooter along a long and twisty road on the east coast of Taiwan toward Taroko Gorge. Those views were among the best things I've ever seen. I've hiked and camped on Mount Rinjani in Lombok, Indonesia. I ran in an ultra marathon (50km) in Cameron Highlands in Malaysia.
In the US, I participated in a refugee simulation called Displace Me, organized by Invisible Children. It was amazing to see so many people gathered for the same cause, learning to empathize with a huge population of people who are forced from their homes into a refugee status.
