About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn Finnish and figure out what to do in my life :]

ABOUT ME

The first thing that probably crossed your mind when you set an eye on me is "God! she's small!" and you're right. However, besides this genetical feature, I am considered as a very enthusiastic and cheerful person. My friends also like to call me a "hippy" because I do care a lot about the environment. I spent most of year 2007-08 wandering through Europe, with my backpack.

I came back on what some would call more conventional track afterwards and started a degree in environmental sciences. I just gradauted last September (2011) at the University of Ottawa. During my studies, I was in Iceland during the winter of 2010, and decided to stay for the summer to charge up my internal battery on a 24h-sunshine and loads of inimaginable landscapes!!

I am now currently in Finland where I work as an intern for Metla (the Finnish Forest Research Institute). Besides learning all I can about trees, I try with my wole heart (and pateince) to learn this enigmatic and curiously beautiful language that is Suomi.

PHILOSOPHY

«When you really want something, the whole world conspires to give it to you.»
-Paulo Coelho

Interests

I love music, even though I don't really play any instrument. Old bands from the 60's and the 70's are some of my favourites. I'm a huge fan of Radiohead and Sigur Ros as well. I am also a ravenous reader. I often carry a book with me because I think it's one of the best ways to nourrish your mind. Besides all this, I really enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. I do love to cook too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far, I believe my travel in Europe to be my biggest achievement. It was the first time of my life I really felt like I DID something. Besides this, I am proud to say I was able to sensibilize the place where I worked in the UK so they started recycling!

Teach, Learn, Share

Even though I'm not the most experienced person in life, I like to share the little I know. However, I like to think that every person you meet influences you or teaches in a way or another. But I need to say I love to learn new languages and new cooking recipes!
