关于我

I'm Ameer, originally from Jordan and Palestine. By study I'm an engineer, but the path took a turn somewhere along the way and I've spent the last several years working on sustainability, climate, and ESG, both as an advisor to companies and as a co founder of an NGO back home that I still help run.

I grew up in a family that ended up spread out everywhere. I have close family in Canada, Germany, Jordan, and Palestine, which means a lot of my travelling is really just chasing people I love. The rest of my travel has been for work, which has taken me through Nepal, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Uganda, the UK, and now Canada, often for stretches of a few weeks at a time. Each of those places left me with a friend, a habit, or a strong opinion about coffee.

In the UK I run a startup called Insider that I'm building piece by piece, and back in Jordan I co founded IYAF, a youth focused non profit, since 2017.

Outside of work I'm someone who genuinely enjoys quiet mornings, long conversations, walking around new neighbourhoods with no plan, and asking too many questions about how things work. I read a lot, cook when I have a kitchen and time, and I'm always interested in how other people have built their lives. I try to leave places (and homes, and conversations) a little better than I found them.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

The hotel version of travelling has never really matched how I actually like to experience a place. The most memorable parts of my trips have always come from the people, a long evening in someone's kitchen, a recommendation that wasn't in any guide, the small daily rituals of a household I wasn't part of a week ago. Couchsurfing is the closest thing I've found to that on purpose.

I'm here to meet generous, curious people, share something real in return, and remind myself that hospitality is still a quietly powerful thing in the world.

教,学,和分享

- How locals actually live in the city you call home, the parts a tourist would never see
- Recommendations on books, music, food, walks, anything you love
- Any craft or skill you have that you'd be open to showing me, even briefly
- Your honest take on the place you live, what you love, what frustrates you, what you'd change

我可以与沙发主分享些什么

1. Cooking. Levantine and Jordanian dishes I grew up with, plus a few things I've picked up on the way.
2. Conversation. I'm genuinely interested in what people do and why. I listen more than I talk in the first hour.
3. Sustainability and climate, in plain language. If you ever wanted to ask "what does ESG actually mean" or "is my recycling doing anything," I'm your person. No jargon.
4. Stories from the road. I've worked across the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia, and Europe, and the through line is usually people, not places.
5. Help around the house. Cleaning, cooking, fixing small things, walking dogs, watching plants, whatever is useful.
A small gift from wherever I'm coming from. Always.
