About Me

I am pretty goofy -- love to purposely mispronounce words to make them sound more fun, dare and do dares, play games (any games), and dance dance dance. I have a beautiful pit bull named Habibi who is the love of my LIFE, and if you meet me I will probably make you look at pictures of her cute face.

I am currently a student at the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies at the University of Redlands. I am in an alternative education program that allows me to design my own major by integrating disciplines. What I've come up with is "Expanding Empathy," which combines sociology, identity studies, religious studies, and philosophy with a focus in learning how communities operate and how people of different backgrounds can find a common connection and respect for each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, it is usually to visit family or friends. I love to hang out, meet up with them, but I'm always looking to explore new places on my own. I really enjoy working on navigating a city, finding hole-in-the-walls or spontaneous excursions. Couchsurfing will allow me some independence when I travel, and someone who knows the place I'm staying to point me in the right direction.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music ~ currently really jamming to disco, but come back to Amy Winehouse and Louis Armstrong when I need a break.

Movies ~ comedy, horror, comedy + horror. These are my go-to's, but whatever fits my mood. Some movies that are close to my heart: Clueless, The Lord of the Rings, Hercules, Drag Me to Hell, Cabin in the Woods

Books ~ Love LOVE David Sedaris for essays/memoirs, Vladimir Nabokov & short stories for fiction, anything spiritual or religious ancient or contemporary

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was on the dive team as a teen, I did a double back flip off the diving board by accident. It was pretty cool the first time -- the subsequent attempts were painful and unsuccessful. Still think back to it though. Probably the only time in my athletic career that I've done something cool, and I dove for a looooong time.

I also cracked a raw egg in my mouth and eaten numerous gross things off the ground.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got an arsenal of games to share, like Dealbreaker, What are the Odds, Connection, Contact, etc.

Always down to make space for vulnerable conversations. It is my joy to get to know someone on a deep, honest level whether having know them my whole life or just met. I study what I do because I am passionate about individuality and perspective and am a firm believer in being open about fears, struggles, talents, etc. When we share of ourselves, we all grow.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My heart and my soul are always open.

Also I can bring some snacks or something.
