About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live in the present

ABOUT ME

I'm not a huge fan of trying to define who i am. But, I love to travel, have new experiences, learn from others' about the world and enjoy the journey. I love the arts and have just completed a post-grad course in theatre making in Melbourne which is a passion and interest, and I'm also a teacher. I've spent quite a bit of time in Asia (India, China, Nepal, and various countries in South East Asia), which has been very eye opening.
My plan for the second half of 2012 is to slowly explore Europe and to see how life is different over on the other side of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

“I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of inner peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion and elimination of ignorance, selfishness and greed.”
― Dalai Lama XIV

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In my last house, I was hosting with two friends Alex and Penny for a few months.
Our profile is 'Hillsideladies' http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/hillsideladies/
It was a great experience and felt that by having visitors stay, you could start to see your own city with fresh eyes.
I'm currently travelling and hoping to couch surf my way through Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a few friends who have been hosting for years and have met some great people through the website. With Alex and Penny we have had a number of couchsurfers over the summer and have found it a great way to break our routines and meet interesting, likeminded people.

Interests

I love meeting people, having new experiences, doing outdoorsy things like hiking, swimming and bike riding, and indoorsy things like going to the theatre, art galleries, movies and eating out.
I believe the best way to spend my life is to seek a range of positive, dynamic experiences- and I hope to meet some like minded souls along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some movies that I love:
Wasteland, American Beauty, Spring Summer, Autumn Winter Spring, Fight Club, Women without Men, The lives of Others, City of God, The Girl in the Cafe, Mary and Max, A Single Man, Best in Show, Boy... to name a few
Books that I love: Zadie Smith, 'On Beauty', 'Wild Swans', 'Disgrace', 'We need to talk about Kevin'...
And I love all kinds of music... Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul, Alternative, some old School Rock.. just steer away from the Top 40 mainstream tunes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Walking up to the summit of a mountain in Nepal with two close friends to watch the sunrise over the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th largest mountains in the world. It was absolutely breathtaking
- Taking an early morning boat ride along the Ganges river in Varanasi, India and watching the city awaken
- Sleeping overnight in a Tree-house in the middle of the Bokeo National Park, Laos

Teach, Learn, Share

I always find people who have chosen the road less travelled interesting to meet and also people who continually question.

Countries I’ve Visited
