About Me
Hi there,
My name is Amelia, I'm from New Zealand and am currently travelling Japan solo for 2-3 months. I love exploring new cultures especially the food and Japan is no exception. I'm pescatarian so only eat seafood no other types of meat but am always keen to try new things. Back in New Zealand, I enjoy doing abstract art with resin as well as photography. I am a huge animal lover and like to be outside although this Japan weather is much colder than I am used to. I have a great sense of humour, love to talk, watch movies (just being introduced to anime) and am very easy to live with. I'm super tidy and always clean up after myself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am currently on couch surfing to make connections with people, to get off the beaten track, to learn first hand what life as a local means in the places I visit.
Because I am travelling alone I would rather stay at a place where I can talk or hang out with people as I am a very social person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing weekends was while I was in Chaing Mai Thailand. We befriended the owners of a cooking school and ended up taking a trip up into the mountains very north of Thailand where we stayed in a village for 2 nights up near the coffee farms. We spent our days up there playing with the refugee children from Burma who had fled across the border. We made paper flowers for the late King of Thailand's funeral and spent the day getting to know them. Feeling so welcome from people that had so little was a heartwarming feeling.
This was truly the most humbling but amazing weekend of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help teach English to you if you need some conversational practice.
I can teach if you are interested in how I create my resin artworks as it's quite a strange process.
I would love to learn as much as possible about the Japanese culture especially food wise.
And share anything I can about my life in New Zealand or travel experiences so far.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share great conversation (In English but I am learning Japanese), lots of laughs, stories and even some delicious New Zealand Chocolate. I love to cook so can always lend a hand in the kitchen or try and create a 'Kiwi' meal one night.
