About Me

I’m 31 from Melbourne, Australia travelling with my husband Ben (35). In short, I love cooking, he loves golf and we are both huge dog people!!! We work in very different industries, I work in an employment tribunal and Ben makes rice noodles (mostly pho and pad thai) in the family business.

We met travelling, and have been lucky enough to have several adventures in our time together. We are new to couch surfing and joined following a recommendation from a friend. We love to meet new people and experience new things, so this seems like a great fit for us. We look forward to the hosting experience when we return to Melbourne.

How we met:
Ben and I met travelling while he was working in a hostel in Budapest. From my perspective it was love at first sight, although he didn’t catch on for a few more days at the infamous spa party at Szechenyi baths in Budapest.
After a whirlwind, 11 day travel-romance we had a long-distance (Skype) relationship for 7 months, and finally reunited in Budapest and lived together for a few months. After a few glasses of wine I made a snap decision to move from my home town in the Illawarra to live in Melbourne with Ben. Fast-forward 7 years later and we are married and the proud pet-parents of two Hungarian Puli’s named Lotsi and Chaba.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Almost all of these can be classified as “guilty pleasures”
Drop Dead Gorgeous
Josie and the Pussycats
Wild Things
Mission impossible: Fallout
The fast and furious franchise (except Tokyo drift and Fast 9!).

Virgin River
Brooklyn 99
True Detective season 1
The Handmaids tale

Books:
His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman (Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass. These books changed my life when I was younger. More recently I have enjoyed books that have feminist dystopian themes including the Bees, Station 11, Gather the daughters, The Power etc etc etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paraglided over sunflower farms in Hungary - we launched from the ground via a beaten up 1985 Datsun with a huge hoist on the back with a local named Zoltan. Good fun and a totally Hungarian experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I work in industrial relations for the Australian government, so I could chat about labour regulation all night if that’s your cup of tea!
More so I love to talk about food and food culture over a few glasses of wine or beef (Ben does not drink).

We always travel with Vegemite and would be honoured to make it for you (the right way).
