About Me

I am a musician! I go on tour sometimes. I've been rambling all over....IL, WI, AR, KS, NC, SC, GA, FL...gonna hit every state I'm sure.

I am a musician who sings and plays guitar. My music is under the umbrella of folk music, but it's spiritual and full-voiced. From the Midwest originally. My material ranges from the spiritual to nature teachings to social protest. I have a very striking, resonant voice.

You can find me on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook as 'Amelia Sweet Bluebird.'
You can listen to my music on www.sweetbluebird.bandcamp.com

I help vend/create/sell Marston’s amazing pottery. Ceramic singing bowls, you can find her on @marstonblow Instagram or ‘Ceramic Song’ on Facebook. Marston’s work honors the Goddess through her work, creating form from clay. Seriously, I have never held such lightweight beautiful mugs or seen such functional art in my life. Singing bowls made from clay...who knew?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I travel, I wish to experience the actual places and people of the region instead of bouncing from heartless hotel to nameless hostel. Hostels are alright...I enjoy staying in welcoming peoples' homes much better. I've couchsurfed before I knew about this website many a time. Experiences through mutual friends, in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois. All unique, connective and lovely.

Interests

I have been singing ever since I can remember. I have studied formally with a master vocalist for the past four years, and she has taught me so much about the voice and body. I am very grateful to her. Because of her, even though I am a folk musician, I have a very resonant voice that fills rooms.

I have been playing guitar for awhile now, been taking lessons from a pro in the the Chicagoland area. I am learned in finger picking folk style along the lines of Joan Baez and Bob Dylan's early material. I play some blues, which I love and am expanding. My music is an endless work in progress, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My vision is to become a great musician. A musician aligned with social justice everywhere. A voice for the people. I am aligned with many social causes of the day-wealth inequity, school to prison pipeline, organic food, climate change and its effects on our lives now, leading a meaningful life. I have performed at social justice events and I wish to do many more. I love performing at community events.

Other interests include herbalism, travel, going into all the funky cafes in the world, drinking kombucha. I love kombucha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm....I performed 11 times in 3 days.

I did a presentation on Nina Simone in high school and played 'Mississippi Goddamn' for everyone. Pretty badass for a 16 year old in her psychology class. It was a presentation on discrimination.

I went to the tallest peak in the east, Mt. Mitchell.

I've done many other amazing things, too. We all have!

Teach, Learn, Share

Everywhere I go I impart my values-economic justice, healthcare for everyone, ending racism, supporting a living wage. Empowering music.

I share my music in one form or another most everywhere I go! I also have learned, through my own experience and of several around me, many alternative healthcare practices and know a smattering of several disciplines/schools of thought. Herbalism, accupressure, massage, vegan, vegan raw....I share that information when people wish to receive it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My music! Live, beautiful music.

Tidiness, can wash dishes, do things like that in gratitude.
