Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Amelie, a 22 year old student from Germany. I've loved traveling since I was a child and I couldn't imagine a year without getting to know a foreign country. Couchsurfing has been on my mind for quite some time now and I really want to give it a try! To me it seems like a perfect opportunity to get to know not only a city but also the locals and the culture! :)
I've lived in Dublin, Ireland and Victoria, Canada for half a year each and I learned a lot about myself and other cultures during those times. Both stays included loads of travels, hostels, new friends and wonderful experiences. Just no couchsurfing experience YET. ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I wrote before - seems like a perfect combination of both getting to know a foreign city and their inhabitants and culture! :)
Interests
I love being busy - I know, this might sound strange but to me there is nothing worse than staying at home and doing nothing. There is so much to experience and explore! When I happen to be home I enjoy baking and cooking a lot, as well as caressing my three beloved cats ;)
When getting to know a new city I usually take waaaay too many pictures (in the end my fellow travelers are always happy I took them, though) and I always try the local beer and coffee!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: quite mixed and changing from time to time, at the moment it's mostly pop and electro
Movies: definitely too many to name, favorite is Forrest Gump
Books: I used to be a bookworm but at the moment the only books I read are the ones for uni - apart from my travel guides (yes, I'm a travel guide person), of course :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
hiking the Waimea canyon on kaua'i, gambling in Las Vegas, biking over the Golden Gate Bridge, zip-lining in canada
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make goddamn good pancakes as well as awesome guacamole!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My passion for cooking - maybe we could cook something typical from your country and mine? In the end, food is a big part of a culture, isn't it? :)
