About Me
Hello! I am Amelie, a 19 year old English girl who currently is living in Portugal. I have been travelling since birth more or less, my parents and I used to go to Mexico and Guatemala every year for their work, and indeed my dad still goes. I grew up going to the English music festivals and so have a deep passion for music, especially live. My favourite thing to do is go to a small live concert where everyone is dancing! I lived on a boat in England until I was 11 and then we moved to Portugal to live in our lovely yellow Mercedes Vario! I am typical English in the sense that, as of now, I only speak 1 language fluently (English) but I am really enthusiastic about changing that and am especially interested in learning French and Spanish.
I love to read, go on walks, explore new places and learn about new cultures, listen to music, and talk about books/music/peoples life experiences and travels. I also love to dance though i am quite terrible! I am always up for an adventure!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to be able to meet people in the areas i am visiting, especially as a solo traveller. It would also be lovely to find events in my local area and the areas i visit to connect with new people.
Music, Movies, and Books
My top artists are (right now - they change all the time) Fontaines D.C, IDLES, Girl and Girl, Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Flynn, Laura Marling, Patti Smith, Talking Heades, Jacques Dutronc and many more!
Bookswise, i love the classics, Dorian Gray, Mrs Dalloway, Lord of the Rings (!!), and also more modern authors like Sally Rooney, Jack Kerouac (not really modern but oh well, i love big sur!), Kae Tempest. I adore Jane Austen and am just dipping my toe into Dostoevsky, Camus and Satre.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn French especially and would love any help whatsoever in that (I am a true beginner) and would be more than happy to help anyone with their English, to practice conversation or try to explain any rules/expressions.
