About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see the world, and be visited by the world, and all of its many, exciting and unique, interesting people and cultures. to share human experiences, ignoring inter-governmental relations, and focusing on inter-people relations. Sort of like an informal American Ambassador, for people to people contact.

ABOUT ME

Very open-minded and flexible person. genuinely enjoys hosting house-guests and has them frequently. Many CS guests. Many also have previously been relatives and friends from USA, but have had Australian, Ecudorian, Slovakian and Polish friends of friends stay in my home. In 2002, added a room and private bath/suite to better accomodate guests. enough room for 2 or 3 or 4 !!
Mature adult, yet very youth-spirited, with lots of older and younger friends, mostly couples with kids. Also, very close and very interactive relationships with many 18-35 year old nieces and nephews, often discussing life, world affair, human relations, future, goals, purpose, etc, yet able to just chill and enjoy a good bottle of vino, sit for hours at the beach/ocean/waves crashing/moonlight silence and just sunny times of frivolity while walking on the beach/sand/surf !!

or, just relaxing at home in front of the fire, while exchanging favorite, arbitrary "Requests of Alexa", music of all genres, especially meaningful classic, rock and current rock/pop, classical and insightful artists such as U2, Sting, Bruce, Van Morrison, Eagles, as well as the classics such as Mozart, Bach and Beethoven, with many, many in between occasional such as Peter Gabriel, Wilco, etc. Lovin' the lyrics, the vibe, tunes, beat, intensity, spontaneity, and all !!

PHILOSOPHY

general philosophy or goals written at top of this profile.

. . . . . ALWAYS Look on the Bright Side of Life . . .

AND

"Synchronicity" always prevails !!!

IF YOU LIKE MY PROFILE AND WANT TO SEND A REQUEST FOR ME TO HOST YOU, PLEASE PROVE THAT YOU READ AND ACTUALLY LIKE MY PROFILE, BY INCLUDING MY FAVORITE NUMBER "17" SOMEWHERE IN YOUR REQUEST. THANKS, DANO Feb 5, 2014

I have had such a wide variety of CS guests, including my first, Alexandra from Vienna, who stayed for 2 full months in 2009, while she was an intern in New York City. Also, a couple from France riding bicycles AROUND THE WORLD, another couple from Spain - Romania, who had been traveling AROUND THE WORLD BY PLANE AND DRIVING VANS FOR 4 YEARS!! Also, Various CS from Finland, Sweden, France, Vienna, Slovakia, Russia, Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Turkey, Mexico, etc.
EVERY experience has been a great one and I look forward to many more guests and hosts from all over this world, hopefully from all other continents soon !!!!
I just learned this from another CS profile, and MY Favorite Number is 17, so please use it in your request to be hosted by me. (17 is my House Number, Saint Patrick's Day, Center of Roulette Wheel, etc :)

just registered on april 13, 2009 after co-travelin' buddy steve highly recommended site. very very open to coffee/drink/meal in New Jersey and/or New York City. pretty good tour guide and info person. not thru couchsurfing yet, but have hosted literally dozens of friends and family members, and friends of friends and family members, all over New York City, New Jersey and even to Washington, DC and Boston, MA !!! I have been to the Dominican Republic, Italy, England, France, and Ireland in last 5 years. However, since I am going to my grandparent's village in Slovakia in 3 weeks, as well as Vienna, Austria, I want to meet local people there, and soon offer to meet others here in NJ and NY, USA

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My New Comments as of 7 August 2012: I host a lot, also I just finished a 3 week holiday this spring in Europe and Russia, all with CS !!! Please read more comments above in "how I participate".

These following comments are originally from April 2009 when I first joined CS: on recent trip to europe to visit my great-great grandparents home village, i met nikolai in vienna and had the best, fast-paced and much variety day, see notes below. also, my former co-worker, steve ward, has surfed my couch for 4 days while in New York City getting his Russian and Chinese visas !! many many other overnight visitors over past years, but not official "couchsurfers", but same concept !! i have stayed in homes of friends and family members in france, dominican, ireland and slovakia !!! officially, in 2009,
just starting as a couchsurfer, and hoping to meet citizens of Slovakia and Austria when I visit there from May 5 to May 15, 2009. going to visit friends and relatives in Radosovce, the tiny village of 417 residents, that my grandfather and great grandfather emigrated from in 1902 and 1911 !!

How to Win Friends by Dale Carnegie, recently read "Blink" and "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. The Alchemeist. All excellent !!! Obama's 2 books. all kinds of music, but especially rock, such as U-2, Bruce, Coldplay, Sting, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, FUN, Peter Gabriel ; and, yes, truly classical music of: mozart, beethoven and strauss.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

PLUS, driving in a SUV, loaded with their apartment contents, with my Austrian CS Buddy Nik from Moscow to Vienna, during a 3 day "Russian Road Trip" through Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Austria, to re-locate him, wife and daughter to their new apartment, in April 2012.
