About Me

** Account currently inactive **

CURRENT MISSION

To make the world a little bit more surreal and try not to say anything too stupid.

ABOUT ME

How does one describe ones' own personality? First off, I am wierd. Then again, I suppose that is true of all of us travellers.

PHILOSOPHY

When I was a kid, I read a lot of the comic Calvin and Hobbes and I strive to live my life by the philosophy therein. I seek out weirdness and celebrate it.

Politically, I strive to understand what "freedom" truly is. It is a word we all, (particularly Americans) hold dear, and yet we cannot in fact agree on it's meaning. My goal is push our understanding of liberty a bit further and to live so as to leave others as much freedom in their lives as I can.

I *always* *always* *always* give money to buskers if I've stopped to hear even a half-measure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently travelling around Europe and looking to meet people. I also just recently moved into an apartment rather than a dorm and so I have the ability to host people and plan to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've not yet met anyone on couchsurfing and am very eager to.

Interests

The things which consume most of my time are sleep, talking to people, computer programming and reading the news.
I"m very interested in understanding war: its causes, its conduct, the notion of just war, the technology related to it, and the means by which it can be prevented.
I also like to read, memorize, and recite poetry. I can also sing several Irish drinking songs and enjoy doing so for the entertainment of random people on subways and on the streets.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like action and politics in both my movies and my books. My favorite film is Thank You for Smoking, about a fictional tobacco lobbyist operating in the American Federal government and media. I also enjoy war movies, though war is of course politics through other means. Of books I like histories the best. I've read far too much military history and am trying to read more economic, scientific, and industrial history.

I cannot talk about music without saying that I love to dance and sing. So, I love musical theater as well as most any type of music with a good beat. I also really like Irish music. In fact I've memorised a few Irish drinking songs and can sing them for you if you wish.

I also am a big fan of poetry and have memorized a few poems that I enjoy performing. It is a pity that poetry is not performed nearly as often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- When I was 10 years old, the 1st time I visited Boston, I jig-danced to a fife and drum in front of Fanuel Hall and somehow, people gave me $40 for it.
- Sitting along out on a lake in Maine just looking out at the water and dark starry night sky...most peaceful sight in the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to understand as much as I can about the full breadth of human experience.
