About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Work to live, don't live to work.

ABOUT ME

Raised a cornbread-fed Texas boy, but lived in Mexico (1 year), Spain (1 year), and China (12 years). Visited 30+ countries. Internationally and culturally aware (or try to be).

A solarpreneur at heart (entrepreneur in solar energy). I'm also a translator/interpreter, China business advisor, and curious person.

I love to eat, drink and be merry.

I consider Nanjing as much my home just as I do Texas.

PHILOSOPHY

Those who love what they do never work a day in their life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

China can be like a mysterious onion whose layers you have to constantly peel to get to the core. Sometimes onions make you cry, but when one knows how to prepare them properly, they can wow even the finest of culinary critics.

I am an ardent believer in couchsurfing karma. Pay it forward.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Benson Wallace (all you CSers see Shanghai, China) brought a couchsurfer to my bowling club in Nanjing once. The rest is history.
Ironically, my first official couchsurfing experience was in my home country, the USA. I've slept on hundreds of couches worldwide and had random people stay at my place in China before I even found CS. Yeah - some people say I was crazy to do that, but you just get a feel for people, and I've never had a problem to date.

Interests

Traveling (duh), languages, social entrepreneurship, hanging out, bowling, bicycling, sports, anything outdoors such as camping, people watching, China observing, amateur astronomer.

Love to cook. Love to eat even more.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurtry. Read it and you'll know where I'm from.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Ok, one - cliff diving at night in Croatia.

Teach, Learn, Share

You want to know how things really work in Nanjing and save you headaches as a traveler? Stay at my place, and you'll be set!

Bargain hunter? Don't want to get cheated? Fear no more.

I also make a pretty mean tuna casserole so I can show you how to make one like Mama always made...

You can also practice your English, Spanish, and Mandarin with me! I love to learn new languages too so I welcome anyone willing to teach me.

Book: "There Is More To Life Than the Corner Office" Read it.
