Overview
About Me
I'm in the sociology program at UCLA. I study the way person-to-person interactions form the foundation for our social institutions. I'm currently analyzing emergency service phone calls to examine how people use categories like race and gender in requests for police.
In my free time I'm finding ways to explore Los Angeles on the cheap. This is my first time living in such a large city, and I know I haven't even scratched the surface of what LA has to offer.
I also enjoy reading anthologies of short science fiction stories. I'm currently in the middle of Blood Child, an Octavia Butler collection. Other collections I love include Her Smoke Rose Up Forever (a James Tiptree Jr collection) and A Woman's Liberation (many authors).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I both hosted and surfed a few years ago, but I moved to a new city and haven't been participating much since beginning that transition. Now I'm ready to get back to couchsurfing!
What I enjoy most about the couchsurfing concept is the idea of meeting people I wouldn't normally have contact with. I always find that I enjoy life more when I'm sharing my experiences with others, and couchsurfing is a great way to do that.
