About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living a meaningful and fulfilled life, embarking on adventures, connecting with people, and growing.

ABOUT ME

My passion is dance, food, and connecting with people. I try to use the first two as a vehicle to facilitate the third. If you ask my friends, most of them will know me for the food I cook, and the dinners I host.

In my free time, I love exploring the nooks and crannies of the city, especially during the quiet hours when people are at work or asleep. A place is never the same place, depending on when you go to visit it. I'm trying to spend more time outdoors, camping, hiking (especially by myself).

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know if we're alive by cosmic coincidence, or if our lives have meaning and purpose (other than that which we give it), but I know I want to feel alive living my life before going into the grave. I want to live my humanity; experiencing the gamut of human emotions, the good and the bad, but mostly the good.

Interests

I love to talk about dance, art, your life experiences, my life experiences, hegemonic power structures, food, or anything, really. Currently on a reading binge on two separate subjects, queerness and our irrational mind. Don't get me started on the exclusivity and conformist nature of gay culture today.

Music, Movies, and Books

Here are some favorites:

Movies {La Jetee, Le Fond de l'air est rouge, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace (all things by Adam Curtis), Vozvrashcheniye, In the Mood for Love, Manufactured Landscapes, Cidade de Deus, Låt den rätte komma in, and anything by the Coen brothers, or Almodovar (except his latest movie)...}

Music {Rach Piano Conc #2, all things violin, Dvorak, and Brahms, Bartok, Arvo Part, but definitely NOT Phillip Glass, Cuban music, samba, Piazzolla, Radiohead, xx, Jeff Buckley, Muse...}

Books {Why Are Faggots So Afraid of Faggots?: Flaming Challenges to Masculinity, Objectification, and the Desire to Conform, Autobiography of Red (Anne Carson), Book of Nightmares (Galway Kinnell), Lolita...}

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ending a 100F hike with a splash into a cold lake fed by melted mountain snows.

Teach, Learn, Share

Good food, conversation, and dance is what I know best how to share!
