About Me
Hi everyone,
I'm a science fanatic currently working on my PhD in Leiden in Earth Observation (look at the earth from Sppppaaaacccceeee) and how we can use this for ecological and environmental research.
For me, I was born in Yellowknife, NWT Canada, but moved to the Regina area somewhere in the middle. I moved to Europe several times for study, and have just stayed here for love pretty much.
In terms of hobbies, I'm into everything from science, art, hiking, nature, animals, writing, reading, all that jazz. I also like comics, I'm really into the 2014 editions of Thor at the moment, but also like Jennifer Blood (but also many others). My favourite animal is a penguin. I own two fish named Loki and Jarim. Jarim is a bhutanese name if you're wondering.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although I'm not hosting at this time, in the future when my living is more stable, I'd to be able to offer that. Also, I would like to be able to couch surf in various countries to do some travelling in Europe, while still keeping it cheap, and meeting the locals. Typically when I travelling, I go to visit friends from previous adventures, and I find that staying with them and seeing it from the eyes of the locals is the most relaxing and best view of any place.

Music, Movies, and Books
Honestly, there is too much music to really pick favourites here, but the last thing that I've been listening to on repeat is the freaking intro song by America to the Last Unicorn movie. It's kind of epic. But, I grew up a metal head in highschool jazz band. I feel like this tells you I can really listen to anything.
For movies, I'm generally into action/post-apocolyptic movies. But, you know, the general comedy stuff is good, too. We've been watching Bo Jack the Horsemen on Netflix, highly recommend. I also like the psychological thriller drama type stuff liek Sense 8 (also a Netflix thing). I'm probably most into that as well at the moment. Generally though, I think I like the movies that make you think.
In terms of books, my all-time favourites are things by John Wyndham (such as the Chrysalids), The Girl in the Gold Atom, Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes (all-time favourite) and War of the Worlds. I'm into like..alternate history, dystopian future, post-apocalyptic future type books. Also general sci-fi.
Invitation to the Game was the first book I ever loved and thought to myself..."Wow, that was really great!" I think I was in 8th grade or something.
I think that this section will be okay if I include Comics as well. If we're going to do the whole DC vs. Marvel thing, then I'd have to say I'm on the Marvel side, except for Batman. Because well, Batman is generally just kind of epic. Plus, the video games are excellent. But in the Marvel universe, I'm generally into any of the Avenger type characters (Thor and Iron man especially).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I completed an MSc degree in 19 months while having three surgeries to remove a n ancient Schwannoma. The ancient refers to the complexity of structures. I have a super bad-scar on my neck where they had to go through to get it out of my skull. It wasn't so bad to go through, but its kind of a crazy thing to think about.
I also once gave the Heimlich maneuver to my brother once when I was 12. First aid in school guys, it works, please do it for the children!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not exactly sure what I'm suppose to put in this section?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm really knowledgeable about general science topics, and I have a great enthusiasm for them. I will most likely be travelling with my boyfriend, and he brings the musical and art expertise to the table, so together, we both make for an excellent conversation.
