About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover who I am, and how to love people for what they are really worth.

ABOUT ME

I'm a guy caught between so many things. Left-brain and right-brain... I did a double-degree in Arts (History) Science (IT). I'm really analytical and a problem-solver, computer-nerd and book-worm. But at the same time I'm a lateral thinker, and I'm deeply creative and passionate when I find something to spark off my inspiration. I think deeply about how people and life work.

I try to learn how to un-learn what I've learnt and allow people to teach me how to live something real, and how to love and cherish people and life for what they are really worth. I'm a Christian, and my faith is a really important part of my life as I take the roller-coaster ride of living all-out for Jesus, and discover a lot about myself in the process.

I was born in Sydney, grew up in the country gold-mining town of Kalgoorlie, then moved to Perth for university. Since graduating, I've stayed in Perth for while working as a software engineer. I rent in an awesome household with my sister Sarah who is an avid couch-surfer host. Next year I plan to go travel and start seeing some of the world...

PHILOSOPHY

To discover who I really am inside, and to be that person. To live authentically and passionately. And to find something worth living passionately for... so far, the only thing I've found that will cut it is living 100% for Jesus.

I'm a deeply spiritual guy, and a lot of my world revolves around my faith in Jesus. But there is a constant and necessary tension as my faith clashes with the world around me, and forces me to try to come to a realer understanding of God and of faith. I always want to be open-minded and try to understand every person's worldview... and even if I disagree with someone, I strongly believe there are valuable things to be learnt from almost everyone I meet. But I do believe that we CAN find out the truth, and I won't be satisfied with less.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Together with my sister Sarah's and mates
Kath and Joe, we host couchsurfers in our fully awesome A-Klub (the Abbotsford Estate). We just have great times hanging out and meeting people from interesting places around the world. We try to make our home into a community of warmth and friendship.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never been surfing, but I've hosted lots of couchsurfers. Met some really wonderful people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading: LOVE Lord of the Rings and all of Tolkein's associated books. Big fan of the Dune series, Robin Hobb, enjoying reading Harry Potter right now. I read a lot of Christian books (the Bible is good) and also enjoy reading philisophical and literary works.

Music: I mostly listen to rock. I think my fav bands would be Reliant K and Third Day.

Movies: Star Wars (old AND new - but the old can't be beaten!), LOTR, Matrix, The Villiage, The Last Samurai.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped off Blackwell Reach (an 11m cliff) into the Swan river, Perth. It doesn't sound like far, but in the dark it feels like freakin' suicide!
