About Me

Current mission: California! (Fully Vaccinated)

British citizen with Ethiopian and Somali heritage

Super excited to travel to the U.S next month.

I've had awful air BNB experiences so a friend suggested i try this instead and I think it's a fantastic idea, because i'm always at my best when surrounded by like minded individuals with a curiosity about the world and people from different cultures. I love to share stories over meals and make people smile.

That's my philosophy, a warm smile can change the temperature of any room :)

About me, I'm a Virgo (neat freak perfectionist) and I've been fortunate enough to travel to many countries around the world, but never to the United States so this is a big new chapter for me.

Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of visiting California before so thrilled at the opportunity of meeting new people, and experiencing a different way of life to London.

Absolute number one hobby is writing, I love journaling and writing poetry. I also have a vintage style camera I take everywhere with me so if I'm visiting you and you need a personal photographer, I'm your wo(man).

I'm also great at scrabble.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think this is GREAT platform and lovely way to make any destination (even somewhere you've already been) a brand new experience. It's a brilliant concept, whoever made this app is truly a global citizen. ♡ Excited to experience it. xxx

Interests

Pretty simple really

Music. Cooking. Eating. Sleeping. Reading. Photography.

Food. I love to cook. Italian cuisine is my specialty, I also love to laugh and I'm usually the life of the party. I believe in energies and sharing positive vibes wherever I go and with whoever I meet.

Dancing is a big one. Just breaks the ice in a way words can't.

MY DREAM is to one day work as an independent photographer.

I've travelled a lot and honestly I can't remember a place that gave me more more love and confidence than Paris, France, Auckland New Zealand, Joberg ,South Africa and Nepal.

Music, Movies, and Books

Margaret Atwood, Dostoyevsky, Jane Austen, Daniel Goleman, Bronte sisters Neil Gaiman, Robert Harris. Tennessee William, Emily Bronte, Scott Fitzgerald Ian McEwen, Jane Austen

Those old American musicals/cult classics and action thrillers that are still cool even if the special effects are outdated.

Favorite films

Gladiator
Grave of the Fireflies
Absolutely love all the studio Ghibli animations
La Vita E Bella
Chicago
Taxi Driver
Fanaa
Woh Kaun Thi?
Anything by David Fincher... I can't think of anything right now. But ask me if i've seen something and that's the best way to know my tastes, I suppose :)

Music: Afro-Beats, Lo-Fi/Reverb, Bollywood, Film Scores (e.g The Prince of Egypt and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them), Traditional Indian Music, Binaural Soundwaves, Acoustic Guitar, Gentle Piano, Native American Flute and Drum, Drum and Bass, RnB, Motown, Blues, Classical Violin, Irish Folk Music, Arabic contemporary music and soloists like Maya Youssef.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left home to travel the world, became an air hostess and met some incredible people from around the world who later became family to me.

Base Camp Anna Purna in Nepal, difficult but well worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn more about myself post covid and being under lockdown for so long.
Adventure.
exploration.

I hope to learn more about California's rich history and culture.

:) and meet other fellow likeminded writers and screen fanatics.

Also i want to live a calmer more relaxed lifestyle and to be near the sea, i'm hoping there's something the Atlantic can teach me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

other than of course my fair share of cleaning, cooking, other chores... I hope i can bring some genuine warmth, positive energy and an infectious smile.

Share travel stories over a meal and a drink. Help you with errands? Feed the cat? Take out the trash? You name it ^_^ I've worked as a PA so I can be quite useful with life admin. And I used to be an air hostess so i can pack super fast when you're sick of me (that won't happen i'm actually awesome).

I can write a personalized poem for you after getting to know a bit about you.

If I get the chance and you're interested I can teach you some of my traditional cuisine. (Afro-Italian style) I can also teach you some traditional African dance and some of my native mother tongue.

I bring mutual respect, trust and friendly ear. In an ideal world there should be nothing strange about meeting a stranger. The world itself is an insult to people like couchsurfers who champion the concept of a global community built of trust and open mindedness.

I respect your privacy, no lifestyle judgements about the way people conduct their business as long as it doesnt hurt anyone Its all Love and Laughter.

Hopefully we can both learn something new about eachother.

I offer good vibes. Life is too short for anything less.
