Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Amanda, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. My parents are Brazilian, so I grew up very connected to Brazilian culture and have spent time traveling there. I’ve also explored different parts of Argentina, Uruguay, and the United States, including New York and San Francisco.
This June I’ll be traveling to Mexico and the United States with my boyfriend — we’re really excited about both. We both love football (soccer), so part of the trip is connected to the World Cup.
I work as a 3D animator and creative director, mainly in video games and virtual reality. I also paint in oil, do illustration, and I’m very interested in cinema — my boyfriend and I run a small film project with children.
If you have any recommendations, or if you might have space to host us, feel free to reach out — I’d love to connect!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m currently planning a trip this June to Mexico City and the United States for the World Cup. I’ll be traveling with my boyfriend, and we’re hoping to visit places like Miami, Atlanta and New Orleans during the trip.
For us, Couchsurfing is a great way to experience a place in a more local way. We really enjoy meeting people who live in the city, hearing their stories, and discovering neighborhoods, food, music, and everyday life beyond the typical tourist circuit.
If you have space to host two people, we would love the opportunity to meet and learn about your city. We also enjoy sharing travel experiences and can always recommend places to visit in Latin America. My boyfriend has traveled quite a bit around Uruguay and Brazil, and he has also visited Armenia and Cuba, so we always enjoy exchanging travel stories and tips with other travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like rock, post-punk, indie, and electronic music (more pop-leaning). I also really enjoy singer-songwriters from Argentina and Latin America in general. I’m always happy to recommend artists, and I love exchanging playlists when traveling. When I visit a city I’m especially interested in discovering local music scenes, so I always appreciate recommendations for local artists, small venues, or places where people go to listen to music. Some artists and bands I like include Jamie xx, Lous and the Yakuza, Angèle, Violent Femmes, Charly García, Sumo, New Order, Depeche Mode, Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, The Clash, La Femme, Sara Hebe, Duda Beat, Of Montreal, Metronomy, and Santigold.

Movies: I really enjoy animation and comics, anime, and Argentinian cinema.
Do the Right Thing, Tokyo Godfathers, Big Fish, Arco (it’s new and amazing), Nine Queens (Nueve Reinas), The Secret in Their Eyes (El secreto de sus ojos), Amores Perros, Persepolis, Harry Potter, Dune, Paprika, She’s Gotta Have It, Guava Island, Searching for Sugar Man, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Her.
Books:
I especially enjoy Argentine literature, particularly contemporary Argentine women writers.
Ladrilleros (Selva Almada), Las Primas (Aurora Venturini), Cometierra (Dolores Reyes), The Rabid Toy / El juguete rabioso (Roberto Arlt), The Slaughterhouse / El matadero (Esteban Echeverría).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I’ve done was traveling to Rio de Janeiro to experience Carnival. It had always been a dream of mine, and seeing it in person was really impressive — the music, the energy, and the atmosphere in the city were unforgettable.
During that trip I also had the chance to meet part of my family in Brazil that I hadn’t known before. After Carnival, I spent about a month traveling through different parts of the country, which made the whole experience even more special.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could share a bit about 3D animation and creative work in video games and VR, and also some basics about cooking Argentine or Brazilian food. I’d also be happy to share Spanish or a little Portuguese.
I love learning about the history of the places I visit, local music scenes, and everyday cultural traditions. I’m always curious about how people experience their own cities.
I enjoy sharing travel stories, music playlists, and conversations about art, cinema, and culture. I’m also very interested in history and enjoy exchanging perspectives about Latin America, its culture, and its social and political history.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy sharing good conversations, music, and food. I can also share travel stories and recommendations from Argentina and other places in Latin America. Since I’m very interested in history and culture, I enjoy talking about Latin American history and everyday life in the region
