ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Amit, and I live in the UK. I work as a community worker for an environmental charity which is both facinating and varied. I also play in a band and called Mellow Peaches (www.facebook.com/mellowpeaches) which includes guitars, banjo's, kazoo's, mandolins, spoons and the kitchen sink.I've not done heaps of travelling, but have always wanted to! I did some interrailing and house concerts the past 2 yrs and had a blastI own a dog called Izzy, she's fairly mad but overall quite lovely, I really like cheese. I think that's about it for me, I'm fairly easy going and hopefully quite easy to get on with, unless someone steals my cheese

PHILOSOPHY

I reckon I'm a fairly positive person most of the time. I've always wanted to make sure whatever I do generally in life is positive, rewarding and helps folks in some way. I think it's important to grab experiences with both hands, think of others and play loads of music!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was hosted twice in 2010 and had an amazing time. Last September I couchsurfed in Belgium, Germany and Holland whilst on a short solo tour, and was once again totally overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the people I met

Interests

My biggest interest is music. Particularly roots music, folk, blues, african, jazz, cuban, eastern european. I play with a country blues band and also present a radio show which plays this sort of music. I also like cooking, and eating!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Through my work, I've been able to see local communities come together to create wildlife and gardening areas for parents, children and more to use, learn from and enjoy. It's inspirational to see people take ownership of these areas and do something positive for people in their community.I've also seen the inside of my car after my dog spent some quality time ripping the seats apart...that was pretty amazing I guess.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play country blues guitar and am happy to try to teach what I can to anyone who's interested. I'd love to learn more about gardening as I'm hoping to have my own allotment soon
