About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as possible, and collect good memories

ABOUT ME

Hiya,

I'm Victor, I have a passion for traveling but am currently locked down by education. As a child, my parents could never afford to take me and my brother anywhere, but on a few occasions, my grandparents would. They taught us the importance of seeing the real country, and meeting real people, as opposed to staying in resorts and eating at McDonalds.

This, along with moving a lot when I was younger, I think is the reason why I have a constant wanderlust and a desire for seeing other cultures and places, and as such I traveled around Europe on a super tight budget as soon as I was out of high school. Afterwards I got a job as a developer, and was fortunate enough to be sent on business trips to the United States, and China, followed by a personal quest to see something spectacular, leading me to Peru.

Homesickness is rather alien to me, and the desire for traveling is constant -- I did however, decide to get a degree while I still had time. My goal is to finish my degree and pay off my loan as fast as possible, and then try to live and work without being geographically locked. I wish to constantly travel from place to place, and find short-term jobs where I can along the way. Whether or not this will be possible, well, only one way to find out!

I'm now in the third and final year of my education, so I'm at least half way there!

PHILOSOPHY

The future lies in the shadow of your past, and only by moving can you shed some light on it. The day I'm on my death bed, I know not what I will think back upon, but I believe it will not be the money on a bank account, the items in a house or the position held at a job.
Instead, it will be the warm relationships I created with other people, and the good memories we made.

As such, the objective of life is to collect good memories, that's how achievements are unlocked in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been couch surfing briefly throughout this summer, as I completed my education and began working in Oslo having no place to stay. I now DO have a place to stay, and am able to give back to the community by providing a couch to sleep on, on and off. It depends a lot on the dates and the persons, though, as I work full-time and have a second job as well, so I'm fairly busy :(
