About Me

Hi! I will open this with some humor - my spirit fruit is an avocado (YES IT'S A FRUIT!) - A bit quirky on the outside, bright mushy insides that are good for you, with a sold core....it also happens to rhyme with my last name and it's grown in California (LIKE ME!).

I'm a quintessential Californian... pretty chill, curious, very inquisitive, and always looking for the sunshine in people. My superpowers include an uncanny ability to talk to strangers, get people to have fun, and tell stories for hours. In an earlier time - I DEFINITELY would have been the village storyteller or that person on the caravan making the campfire pop. My idea of fun is fairly wholesome - I love surprises and random adventures...the idea of the story unfolding unexpectedly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love the idea of meeting new people and all of the interesting experiences that come with getting to know an awesome person and location. I'm very excited to meet folks who have that mad dash of random adventure still left in them that technology seems to have leeched away . I sometimes dream about being a digital nomad , but I'm still working towards that professional goal. I'd also really just like to meet people in my own city and engage with them on a deeper-level than I'm going to find at a local hangout.

Interests

It's honestly VERY challenging to find something that I WON'T try (assuming it is reasonably sane and legal within the jurisdiction). I'm a very spiritual person - so I'm always intrigued by deep and philosophical conversations... even visiting religious orgs to promote inter-cultural and faith dialogue. I'm a practitioner of Indigenous Mexican traditions , so I'm always happy to share my experiences :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now I'm obsessed with Game of Thrones ...even the theories. I try to stay away from television unless it's a movie, awesome series, or a documentary.

Music: I LIKE EVERYTHING!!!! My top faves are Rap / Hip-Hop, Delta Blues (Pre 1960's), Afro-Caribbean, Flamenco, Trap House and EDM, Alternative, Folk, Opera, Bluegrass and Americana... I can appreciate an excellent and vigorous irish reel and... of course... Mexican Mariachi and Rock en Espanol

Books: Mostly I read non-fiction... lately A LOT of books on entrepreneurship and leadership (how exciting right?).. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter... but generally love magical realism in the vein of Isabel Allende etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've jumped off a 60 foot cliff into a quarry in Massachusetts - that was pretty darn cool!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach: Writing, acting anything, how to massage yourself and stretch, English, Conversational Spanish, Indigenous religion / spirituality concepts, American History, embroidery, how to sew, Historical costuming

I want to learn: How to play guitar and Djembe,

Share: I technically can read tarot cards so that's always a fun conversation starter, Indigenous spiritual

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my creativity - I write, act, sing, dance around...all of it. I can share my wordsmithing talents to do freestyle rapping, poetry, or just plain making up funny limericks.

The other thing I can share is warmth of spirit. I'm not sure how to say it - but we say carino in Spanish... a term of giving affection in spirit and energy. I lend myself well to groups that need a creative burst of interesting energy and I have an earnest desire to build lasting connections where I find them.
