About Me

Hi! I'm Amos. I currently live in London, at which I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering in Imperial College London. In the future, I aspire to work in promising field of healthcare and be contribute to the development of healthcare technology.

I cannot sit still, figuratively. I'm constantly musing about my next escapade, new places to see, new things to learn and do. I am driven by spontaneity and a tinge of impulsiveness. I crave the thrill of it all. These help me to experience the world in all of its authenticity, without hindrance from a schedule or incessant planning.

Most teenagers, at the age of 18, went straight to university or work. I dropped everything, shaved bald and served in the Singapore army, where I became a reconnaissance commander in an intelligence company. We carry 30kgs of load on our backs, rifle in hand, and trudge through the jungle in the dead of night. Needless to say, it was a wild time. I learnt so much as a leader, soldier and human. More importantly, I understood what it meant to love and protect my loved ones.

I recently bought a 30 pound tent from decathlon, I hope it will serve me well for my quest to see the world while I live off the kindness of strangers and just the necessities.

I'm excited to hear from others. It's always a blessing to learn about what life entails for the individual.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whilst abroad and studying for university, it would be a wasted opportunity not to travel the world and meet people from everywhere. I love listening to stories, sharing my own. I would love to meet locals who are willing to introduce me to the town they grew up in, share their life stories, or even show me places mean the most to them. In my opinion, this is the epitome of human intimacy and interconnectedness. We stand to learn and grow the most from being invited into people's stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love playing the guitar and personally own a Fender stratocaster as well as a beloved Takamine acoustic guitar which currently resides in Singapore. I love math rock guitar, alternate rock (Plini, Intervals, Polyphia).

Favourite movies: Interstellar has to be the best sci-fi movie of all time. As a kid who was intrigued by quantum physics, this show literally blew my mind. Disney's ratatouille is my childhood favourite, having watched it countless times. You stand to learn alot about dreaming, from a show about rats who cook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Got off a helicopter, led a reconnaissance team and navigated 32km in thick vegetation over 24 hours with just a map and compass, and subsequently carried out 2 reconnaissance missions over 4 days with hardly any sleep.
-stayed at a new friend's place in Aignan, France for 4 days and trekked the rural countryside.
-went to Batam, Indonesia to serve in a primary school for 10 days. My team conducted lessons, games but more importantly learnt so much about grace and love.
-Spontaneously decided to trek to Devil's Pulpit in Glasgow, climbed down the ravine and walked in the freezing cold water

-wild camped on top of a knoll in peak district with a faulty decathlon tent. had a glorious sunset view of the great ridgeline
