About Me
Hello! I am Amrita, currently a student at ENS in France. I am doing my Masters in Informatique, and I'm looking to meet new and interesting people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Living in a new city is hard. Making friends always makes it easier and more fun. I would love to host as well, but living in a student dorm makes it almost impossible, and not really the type of experience one would be looking for in Paris.
I realise that over the past year, of all the places I've traveled to, I enjoyed my time best when I spent more time with locals, and the touristy things I did, while usually fun, never gave me a sense of the place. I never did understand how people can just visit a place for a day or two, and consider it done. My favourite parts of a city are in the mundane, everyday activities. I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet locals who are actually enthusiastic about showing their city to new people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now - I'm reading Milkman, (re)watching Gilmore Girls, and listening to a lot of Mozart and Bach.
All time - I absolutely Hemingway and Austen, and of late, Plath. Apart from that, I really enjoy non-fiction, especially historical works. If you are into/seeking for literature about India, let me know. I have a long list of must-read books. And I am always looking for more. I love talking about books, almost as much as I love reading them.
When it comes to movies, I'm afraid I am very partial to chick flicks and mindless entertainers (as long as they have a happy ending). But I also really enjoy period pieces and biopics. But that being said, I watch a lot of movies in general, and I also love talking about them (though I have a strict rule about talking during them).
I am a total novice when it comes to music - so tell me what I absolutely *should* listen to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've cooked dinner for a group of 9 people. And they all survived!
Teach, Learn, Share
I think I can cook Indian food with a fair amount of confidence now. I do try other cuisines, but I only follow recipes. I love making, drinking, and sharing Indian Chai. Apart from that, I can teach you some interesting things about math (I'm only partially joking!).
I am open to learning everything! I especially want to be able to pass off as a dancer, so if you have the skills (and infinite patience), that would be incredible.
But my favourite part of any friendship is sharing - thoughts, ideas, experiences, and of course, cake.
