About Me

My younger self imagined I would be in either Honshu or Shikoku, considering my love for manga and anime, but I ended up taking a detour. I called South Carolina my 'home away from home' for several years, which is known for the hottest chili pepper in the world. And no, I have not tried one, yet! Namma Bengaluru is where I grew up; the Air Force campus, Kendriya Vidyalaya uniforms, the endless city bus chase, delicious food, insane adventures, and the endearing memories of my loved ones.

I enjoy the adventure of meeting new people and being a small part of their big story. Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking are a few things that I am always up for. Some of the other things that bring me joy are- archery, art, nurturing saplings in my home-scale nursery, collecting seeds/cuttings, learning about soil/water/air, knowing how the older generation did things, tai chi, watching the waves and rain as I sip some coffee.

My journey so far has been in connecting the dots between environmental issues and ways of tackling them. The process of linking these dots made me realize that I was trying to 'solve' the symptoms while the underlying problem persisted. In recalibrating my perspective, I am now beginning to understand a whole new world of hidden (in plain sight) essence connecting everything like a mycelial network.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and meeting new people. I enjoy visiting and experiencing non-touristy places/things that the locals are aware of. I prefer getting an authentic sense of a place that comes only when you root there. Also, the more I get to know people, the more I understand that we all are the same. There is still so much kindness, humanity, care and compassion in this world. Experiencing that through meeting new people helps me widen my perspective and restores my faith in humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have enjoyed watching the following movies/documentaries: Minari, Little Forest, The Hundred Foot Journey, Julie & Julia, The Peanut Butter Falcon, Deep Waters, Fantastic Fungi, Seaspiracy, My Octopus Teacher, and others.

Currently, I am enjoying listening to Halsey, Angel Obel, Yaima, Saint Privat, and others. Linkin Park used to be my favorite band growing up. Used to listen to Rasmus, 3 Days Grace, Evanescence. I also listen to Hindi, Kannada and Japanese songs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of them was taking a solo adventure to Florida on my birthday and sky diving by the ocean! #heaven

I have also lived in my lab running experiments for one whole week. Amazing? My advisor would have rather called it crazy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am working on learning more about pottery, sewing, archery, handloom, dyeing, seeds, trees, forests, and more.

I can share a thing or two about cooking (vegetarian/vegan), tai chi, engineering, my life in the US, my adventures, macrome, and more.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the experiences I have had in India and in the USA. I know a thing or two about cooking and eating healthy which I can share :) I have cooked for my hosts before. If you want to know about Tai Chi, I know show some of the basic stances.
Or if you have questions about swimming, archery, ceramics, stained glass, or environmental issues- I would love to hear your questions and will try my best to answer those.

I can also help you start a kitchen garden and teach you tricks to make amazing compost recipes for your plants.
